How GM can make their interiors better.

I expect a big improvement with the next full size truck, especially with all the praise the new F150 is getting for it's interior.

I was very impressed, and it is still quite a ways off...

When GM does their redesigned truck lineup, make it to where GMC gets a different interior than Chevy. And let Cadillac get an even different and better interior than GMC.
Let Chevy get the cheapest one, along with a hose it out vinyl version to sell to contractors. GMC could really move upmarket with a nicer interior. And Cadillac needs to be the "Standard of the World" when the new Escalade comes out.

Re: How GM can make their interiors better.
Of all the new GM models that have been released in the past 2 model years, the only one I am somewhat dissappointed in is the Grand Prix. And it isn't the materials. Compared to my previous gen, I like the radios better, the seats are far superior, things like metal door handles are nice, etc.
But I think the design is a little lacking. Its not dated, but when I sit in one I don't feel like it was a big enough step forward. While the materials in my older GP may not be as nice in certain areas, I think the soft-touch dash top and soft materials on the door panels are way nicer. Why is it GM refuses to put cloth on door panels these days?
Malibu, Equinox, G6, and others though?? Thumbs up. Here's to hoping the trend continues...

Re: How GM can make their interiors better.
The only production GM interior that I think is on the right track and is currently in production is the new Cadillac STS interior. It looks warm & inviting as well as being well made.
The Colbalt interior looks great and I'd say is also a step in the right dircetion, but the one I checked out wasn't even a pre-production version. I'm saving final judgment till I sit in the production version which I haven't seen yet. GM hadn't finalized interior materials when I saw the car.
On a related subject, I have my 1st complaint of the new Mustang interior (1st time I was inside a production version for any length of time).
The interior assembly is top notch, the materials are virturally flawless, and the overall design (without the flashy metallic dash) is very good. But... you feel like you are in a bank vault driving the car, and the interior is a smigen claustrophobic.
For a car with a base price of a mere $18,000 in V6 form, the interior is actually almost.......too good!
It's not an interior that encourages you to be rambuncious, and feels almost formal if it wasn't for the chrome around the guages and vents.
It's night & day from last year's Mustang!

. Ford reserved the 99 update for the the exterior. The interior which was dated when it was introduced in 94, was very overdated come 2004 and the end of the sn95 production-cycle.
