I'm sure this won't make the evening news, or the front pages of newspapers, or Autoweek's homepage, or...well, you get the idea.

I have a great idea. Let's all act like this type of recall never happens to any of the domestic manufacturers and is proof that foreign cars suck, and then all talk about how the biased media will never talk about it because they love foreign cars and are secretely getting paid off by the Japanese. Then let's say let everybody take turns saying the above in slightly different ways with periodic breaks for people to use the icon in approval in hopes that others will in return to their post and everyone will feel loved.

Kinda sounds like a group therapy session to me...

But it'd be on the front page of the USA Today (literally) followed up by 2 articles within about how "Is America slipping behind in world quality?" or "Is it time to shut down the American auto industry??"

Kind of taking it to the extreme aren't we? It's 85,000, not 85,000,000. They aren't bursting into flames, and at least they are recalling them instead of denying there's a problem.
They all get reported. It's the ones that either kill people or affect millions of vehicles that get the most attention.

You're entirely missing the underlying theme here. No one ever said domestics don't have recalls. The point is, domestic recalls are plastered all over the media and become fuel for journalists. When a foreign automaker has a recall, it barely makes the back page of the Wall Street Journal. I know this because I read the stupid thing every damn day.

THAT is the point.

It's funny how whenever someone posts a recall thread, the same discussion comes out over and over again.... :blah:

It's also interetsing that some (not all) of the people who jump in and start bashing the post, because American cars have more/worse/whatever recalls are some of the same people who start the "Chevy had a recall! They suck!!! BWAHAHAHA!!" posts....

It sounds to me like you misplaced "domestic" and "foreign" in your post.
