I keep forgetting to verify with GPS but I think my 335i's speedo reads 5-8% high just based on what I've seen other people's speedos next to me indicating (digital dashes) when my cruise is on.

Hopefully that doesn't translate to my odometer since it's a lease and mileage is an issue.

But you can report better MPG!

This information is about 1.5 years old.

Big problem was that there is a voluntary standard on this set by SAE. It is set to -4%/+4%. Honda was centering around +2%. Your mileage would look high, your mpg would be higher (.5 to 1 mpg at most), and you would be out of warranty slightly faster as well.

They said Toyota was just slightly under on it mileage reported, and the Detroit cars were nearly perfect.

Again, why is this article 1.5 years late to the party.
Probably because at the time of the original article the courts hadn't made a decision yet.

I checked my 335i on the way home from the dealer with the old-school stopwatch/3-mile measured distance. At 60 mph indicated, I was actually traveling at 57 mph. Seemed to be a pretty consistant 5% high. When I switched to non-runflats, I purchased 5% taller aspect-ratio tires (225-45 instead of 225-40, etc) that were 4% taller and the speedo was then almost perfect. Of course then the odo was off, so my mileage "appeared" to suffer.
