But production of the 2005 MY units has ceased. They are now producing 2006 units at Auto Alliance, and have been for some time.
So 2005 units are done now.

Ok, but I wasn't counting the 05s that were sold in CY 2004 either.

Most cars do well the 1st year, then drop off.... called product cycle.

But just the same:

*1995 Mustangs sold more than 1994s.

*1998 was the best year for the SN95 Mustang body that came out in '94.

* In 2000, the Mustang's sales jumped by nearly 100,000 (218K), despite being the 2nd year with the new look.

*From 2001 to 2004, Mustang sales varied little, 154K in '01, 142K in '02, 153K in '03, and finally , 141K in 2004.

You're right about the 1st years of the Fox body Mustang sales dropping after the 1st couple of years. 1st year sales were 370,000 cars! But those sales dropped 100K per year in '80 & '81. But the cars settled into a stable sales level that was by no means tapering off, and in fact had many ups & downs. The final years of the Fox body were: 159K in '87, 211K in '88, 209K in '89, 128K in '90, 98K in '91, 78K in '92, and finally [color=red]114K[/b] in '93.

Don't try to figure out Mustang sales cycles.. or the sales cycles of the sports coupe market in general. They go without rhyme or reason, and can suddenly go ballistic or tank for no reason.

They knew they were lying about it at the time, so it probably doesn't taste all that bad.
