Holden Colorado Showcar
Re: Holden Colorado Showcar
I can honestly say that I'm a target for this type of truck. If it would make it here in the states for the 2012/2013 market year that will be when I'm looking for my next daily driver for work and for home. Yep, I think this could be it!
Re: Holden Colorado Showcar
Really? A complete ****box?
Don't you think you're being a bit over dramatic here?
It's not a complete ****box. Not by a long shot.
Is the interior not up to today's specs? Yes. I will give you that.
But it is NOT a complete ****box.
Show me some quantitative data, from a reliable source, that backs up your assertion.

High quality

Undependable ****box

My Canyon apparently has awful quality though. I guess Canyon owners are more picky.

Re: Holden Colorado Showcar
What kind of mental picture does it conjure up when someone says "complete ****box"?
For me, that means a car that doesn't start all the time, with parts falling off of it, making all sorts of noises, vibrating and/or shuddering and/or bucking as it goes down the road, in the shop more than it's on the road, and stranding it's owner on a regular basis.
That's a "complete ****box".
A vehicle that has 1.2 problems per 100 cars vs 1.0 problems per 100 cars does not a "complete ****box" make.
(I don't know the actual numbers but I read an article that talked about the statistical differences between the top rated vehicle in J.D. Powers survey to their lowest rated and it was statistically insignificant).

Re: Holden Colorado Showcar
If that thing can tow 5000lbs and hold 4 adults, I'll buy one the day they are available for preorder. It looks awsome, it has truck capability without the huge size, and it is small enough that it will have somewhat decent mileage.
Re: Holden Colorado Showcar
My only issue is pricing. I tried pricing a Colorado the way I'd purchase it and was within Silverado price range. I want a cheaper utilitarian small truck... and preferably one with a turbo diesel four.

Re: Holden Colorado Showcar
Hey, if I spent my money on one..I might have a different opinion. However I have never seen anyone who a.) Has a good thing to say about the Colorado, or b.) desires to own a Colorado. It seems to be something that people get stuck with for whatever reason. The old S-10 was also a **** box, but for some reason it had more personality.
It was well made, solid, and far tougher than the small trucks from Toyota and Nissan, which tended to rust out prematurely, and needed engine attention (timing belts, water pump, etc...) much earlier than S10 (and Rangers, and Dakotas) did.
Don't worry, you're forgiven for thinking S10s were ****boxes. They went without a update for quite a long time. Also if one is too young to remember S10s when they were new or slightly used and one's only personal experiences were with an old, well used one, then it's easy to think of that old used S10 instead of how it was new and how the S10 actually held up.
Much like coming across a mid to late 90s Honda Accord today with overheating issues and trim falling off and calling it a ****box, but being oblivious to the fact it was one of the best made cars of it's day.
There was very little if anything wrong with the S10 by the standards of the day.
Re: Holden Colorado Showcar
I would hope they set their sights a little higher and target the Nissan Frontier with this truck. IMHO, Nissan has the best truck in this class when it comes to capability!
Re: Holden Colorado Showcar
FYI, the S10 was actually a very good truck.
