We can only leap to a conclusion, which is just speculation, but it would seem the answer is clearly that something is in the works, and since we pretty much know it is already thanks to the work of GuionM and others, this is just further confirmation.

Or, a counterpoint. What, just because a car seized being produced means that GM should erase the car from their heritage and speak of it no more? It's not a military project, like Avro Arrow, so that it gets completed wiped off the pages of history.
Even if Camaro is cancelled for good ( IF ), it generated a lot of history and attention. It certainly does not necessarily mean that to display some great historic cars is a sure indication of what's to come. It MIGHT be, and putting together those pictures with everything else we heard on this site, we tend to speculate, perhaps more than is healthy.
I think its odd that they used the Camaro. They seem to have mentaly killed it off, and Lutz has said there wont be one... I know, I know..., but the big shots basicly got rid of any idea of a Camaro as far as the press goes.
Why all of a show some Camaro's? Why not use older vettes or SSR? Its just a little too odd.

Could they have used Camaro's simply because next to the Corvette, not many other cars have a rich history at that track as Pace Cars?
Thats the first thing I thought of when I saw the pictures.

Well, if they wanted to show off some other cars, why did they use the 2002 Camaro? I can see if they used just the 67... but 2 Camaros? I think they could have used the new "Indy 500" editon Impy SS, or the SSR or something that they are trying to promote.

And, 'Avro'-who?.....
And, 'Avro'-who?.....
"The Arrow was a plane of firsts, fly by wire, computer control, integral missile system and capable of MACH 2+. The year was 1958, and the COLD WAR was raging." And, it was built solely by Canada. No US invovlement. Actually, US was involved, but specifically to cancel the Avro program.... Darn UAW/CAW unions!

i really hope they make the 5th gen sensitive to mods and really restricted. today on horsepower TV they had a cobra. in all seriousness, by the time the 5th gen comes out you might have one less fan. everyday i am leaning more and more to the ford side. you gotta admit they are on a roll. ford GT, numerous fast mustang models (mach1, cobra), and the lighting. we already saw GM attempt at the lightning, what a dissaster. i'm sure some of you diehards will try to convince me that that isn't who the truck is suppost to go after. also, this morning they had a tuner name version of the chevy truck(this was on car and driver who also mentioned GMs interior sucking and all). it was faster, less expensive, and looked better than the SS truck.
back to the horsepower TV episode. they had a stock cobra. tuned the chip (timing, fuel, etc.) and gained 40hp. with just a few buttons pressed you are already hanging with a z06. add a pully and exhaust and your good for a close race.

The SS ISN't aimed at Lightning buyers, you don't think if GM wanted it to compete with the L they couldn't just throw a big motor in a 2WD chassis and call it aday?
