I watched the Camaro evolve from 3rd to 4th gen and didn't even know it happened. It was a very slow evolution, and the problem, in my opinion, was that the Camaro from 2000 on, needed a new look / body style.
They should also have raised the price (making it a bit more elite and profitable) instead of trying to compete with the Mustang in volume (sales/production).
