The C6 is an awesome looking car IMO. If it were not for the fact that I am holding out hope (or "keeping the faith" as a certain person so aptly put it) for a new "C-word", I'd find a way to have one in my garage. (I'd even consider selling two or three of my other toys to do so.)

Nope, you'd just have to slam it . I wish my CTS had this. My wife almost always has to open her door back up and slam it again because she doesn't pull hard enough to close it all the way the first time. Makes a great seal though, very quiet w/ no wind noise.

unfortunately, there really ISN'T a place for the license plate on the front other than what you saw at B/G.......the new Corvette is not a bottom breather, thus the grille is functional...........

(methinks some peeps will have license plates on the dash.....)

I hear ya with the audio controls on the steering wheel....and agree 200%....I was the one that suggested we needed 'em on the Camaro....

I got screamed at by a Maryland Transit cop for that in the old 95 Firebird. It apparently is not very smart to have a peice of steel unsecured on your dash like that if you get in an accident. He told mee it was worse than no front tag at all...which I also got pulled over for in my last Camaro.

These are two things I've said about the new Corvette from the beginning. They could have designed the front end ANY number of ways, yet they chose one that makes the license plate look like a toaster is attached to the front... and you even have to drill HOLES into the front fascia!! They could have had a bottom feeder design like the C5, and this problem would not exist.

The steering wheels controls... no reason for them not to be there either... Now that I've had them on the Monte, I don't know if I'd buy a car without them... I use them ALL the time.. a fantastic convienance feature!

And, I'd like to throw in the grey spoiler... I think it does an adequate job of "tightening up" the rear end, which is why I assume it is there... to help defuse the "too big in the butt" comments the C5 got by breaking the body line a bit. But, instead of tacking on a piece of dull grey plastic, why not make it out of a garnet colored semi-transparant plastic along the lines of what Cadillac does with their CHMSL areas? It would have the same effect as the grey plastic, but look classy instead of tacky!

K, let's see here...

Lengthen the overhangs, screw up styling AND aerodynamics to keep semi-retarded front plate area looking good for some goofball states JUST IN CASE someone decides to evade police at high speeds IN REVERSE...

I vote no.

I'll take mine in red please, Mr. Planet. Z06. Still torn between red, ebony or tan interior... I'll let ya know.

PS - I'm in Canada. Check your email.

Why would it HAVE TO "screw up" the styling ?!? That front end could have been designed in an infinite number of styles, many of which could have been at least as good looking, if not better.

The license plate, however, 100% DESTROYS the front end of the car for those who are required to use it.

And, from what I've read, the C6's coefficient of drag is just .01 better than the bottom feeding C5, and I'd be willing to bet it is worse than the C5 when both have front plates attached.

First, it would have made the overhang longer. That's bad, especially since the whole idea with the car was to make it smaller and keep the overhangs s-h-o-r-t.

Second, the aerodynamics of the car shouldn't be a slave to the aforementioned plate nonsense. Trust me, if you need to see the front plate of a C6 clearly during a high-speed chase, I hope you've got a helicopter handy...

Third, I call .01 Cd a nice improvement from what already was one of the slipperiest cars on the planet.

Like I said, I'll take mine in red, and God Bless Michigan!

The plate has nothing to do with high speed chases... some states require it to be there.... and it looks TERRIBLE.

I agree, they all look terrible.

I would advise armed insurrection. Take the entire Democratic section of your legislature hostage and demand that the law be repealed by the remaining Republicans or you'll shoot a different Democrat every day until it is.

Six months later, the bill will pass both houses and be signed by the governor.

Problem(s) solved.

I certainly agree the law serves no point except to increase state income with tickets for people who dont drive with the plate, and also so the State Troopers have a nice, reflective target on the front of each car for radar/laser.

What the heck, I'll jump in. I think the real point is that since you do have to allow for the states that require front plates (which also happen to be the states w/ the highest sales of the Corvette by the way), they COULD have done better w/ the design (of the bracket). I would almost bet money that Mid America or somebody will have a front license plate relocation kit available w/in 6 months of the car being available, and the advertising will sound something like this...Replace that poor looking factory piece with our new front plate relocation bracket! Then they will talk about how it really doesn't screw up the airflow, and everything will be hunky-dory if you buy it. In reality, sure it will cut down on the flow if you hang it low enough, but I'd at least like the option. By the way, I thought I read that the car was a split breather, like 60/40 grille/airdam or something like that. i know the pix i got of the C6 show an airdam underneath at least.

I wonder if someone w/ photoshop ability could work something out for the C6? Take a look at an early C3's front end, and do that to C6. Keep the same grille area, but split it down the middle, spread it out to the sides and get rid of that area between the grille and the fog lights, integrate them like the early C3's, and drop the liscense plate down between them ala C5. Basically you keep the airflow, get the plate integrated, and keep some heritage. Hmmmm

On an upbeat note, the 3rd brake light thing really does seem to show up worse in pictures than it does in real life, to me anyway. It kind of looks annoyingly Cadillac-ish, but in person, I don't recall noticing it at all, which I guess is a good thing. The blacked out section of the rear bumper is another thing, some may think it looks bad in pix, but in person, it really does shrink the visual size of the rear, C5 could have benefited from that.

I heard the same thing... i don't really think that a liscense plate would obstruct the flow TERRIBLY.

maybe you can even get a smaller plate through the state? i wouldn't know...

but as clean said... SOMEONE will come out with a relocation kit.
