Has GM even confirmed that there will be a new camaro?
Re: Has GM even confirmed that there will be a new camaro?
I'll be happy when the 5th gen comes out so i can buy a '02 z28 or ws6 for a fair amount cheaper. I don't see the 5th gen being much faster and i don't see how it can look better than the ws6

Correct me if I'm wrong but GM can't use the "C" word until summer 2005.
If we don't here something for sure by the 2006 NAIAS then everyone has my permission to lose faith

Now that the '05 Mustang is out the situation will change. If the car holds up well and is as good as it appears to be, nearly all the performance enthusiasts will migrate over, and it may be very tough to get them back. GM will be left with a few die hard supporters sitting out in the cold "keeping the faith" and the managers will continue trying to figure out how to improve market share by decimal points.
In terms of keeping the faith, I think GM is putting too much faith in us to sit out in the cold and wait around.

I'll take my money else where.

FWIW.............While trying to order a C6 for the wife sunday,I asked the salesman if he heard anything about a future camaro. He said they were told that there would be a RWD performance coupe in the future but, that the performance version would be called "SS" and be based off a car named monte carlo or chevelle. No more camaro. Remember ....this was from a salesman, but I thought some would find it interesting anyway.

I am confident that there will be a 5th Gen and I want GM to do it right the first time around. So, go ahead, take your time.

One reason for me not being in a hurry is also the fact that I still have almost three years of financing still remaining on my current car.

Re: Has GM even confirmed that there will be a new camaro?
I think by either late 05, or at NAIAS in 06 we will deffinatly see a Camaro concept. I would rather they wait for 06 and for them to announce that they would put them up for sale in the summer...now that would be awesome!!

So the consensus it that the whole naming issue with Canada is clearing up and if we don't see or hear something by NAIAS 2006' everyone who hasn't already is jumping ship? Sounds good to me.

I think I speak for many here...shut up and buy a Mustang please. PLEASE just buy the damn thing already. Stop talking and buy it!
Dont type anymore. I dont want to hear about you dont feel like waiting or you dont want to "have faith". Fine, no one cares. Buy your Mustang. But please...shut up and do it without posting about "I want my Camaro".
Just do it already. Go down to your Ford dealership, trade in your 325hp Camaro in for a 300hp Mustang GT with that fancy color changing dash.
Please, buy the Mustang so every one can shut up. We all know that there is no Camaro out. There is no need to keep bringing it up. We all know that he Mustang will sell 4 milion copies this year or whatever. Just buy the car. Dont whine, just buy the car.

My ex g/f for instance, when we were together she was alreaddy this huge Mustang fan, until I took her for rides in the Z. Then I showed her pics of the new Camaro concept pic in PHR and told her that is what its going to look like. She had her money readdy to buy a new Mustang V6, but decided that it would be worth it to just buy a used car and save up more for the new Camaro. Well since then I've told her not to hold out for it since nobody has confirmed anything other than "have faith" (which I do, but I'm not going to expect anybody else to, especially a nonenthusiast like my g/f) and if it does come back, it probably won't be till after 2008 so she mine as well buy a brand new car now and it mine as well be a Mustang since it will help out the RWD affordable sports car market (next best thing to a Camaro). So shes recently gone into a local Ford dealership and told them to call her when they get one in. She has put down a $500 deposit on one alreaddy.

Re: Has GM even confirmed that there will be a new camaro?
I love how the guys who are saying "If you don't like it, buy a ford/leave the board!" are the guys who are driving F-Bodys that are more than 10 years old. Some of us are actually looking to get new cars. If we were satisfied with an 87 Z28 or a 95 Z28, then there'd be no problem, we can live off of the past forever. But some of us want to get something new, and not just love GM because our third gen is great.
As for buying another brand? Done. Didn't buy a GM car. Leave the board? Why, because a few of you are idiots? This board is one of the best automotive boards on the net, has info about upcoming cars from all brands from real enthusiasts who appreciate any cars. A couple of bad seeds aren't going to scare me off, no matter how annoying they choose to be.

Re: Has GM even confirmed that there will be a new camaro?
I dont care if you buy GM or not...just shut up about buying a Mustang.
GM KNOWS that they are leaving enthusiast out...but Im sure they really dont care right now. They put enough enthusiast cars out there to grab the large segments. CTS-V, XLR, C6, Cobalt SS, SC'ed W bodies, etc should be plenty so make most enthusiasts happy.
Im tired of hearing "I cant wait anymore, so Im gunna get a Mustang." Ok, go ahead.
Dont like what GM has? Dont buy it.

"We are definitely bringing back the camaro."
If what they said sounds even faintly vague, then I wouldn't even get excited or anxious. Thanks in advance for the info.

Sure, you have GM giving almost a day by day report on the Solstice, but look at other cars:
*Charger will be out in 6 months, but Chrysler only announced they were going to make it last April
*There wasn't an official peep out of GM on the C6 Corvette till it was introduced last December.
*GM didn't give any official info on the Colbalt till just a few months before it's unveiling last winter.
*Though Mustang's development was a easy to find open secret, Ford still gave no official word on the car till the concept version showed up at the NAIAS 2 years ago.
*Cadillac STS, another open secret, wasn't announced till introduction earlier this year.
*Chrysler's Neon replacement, Ford's next Lightning, Buick's Lecerne, are within 12 months of production, yet there's no official word on them.
*Ford's special edition performance Mustang, Ford's restyled Crown Victoria & Lincoln Town Car, a more powerful Cadillac XLR, and other new vehicles are getting close to the 7 or 8 month production date, yet there's no "official" word on these as well.
Your best bet is to keep up with the posts here & at other websites & learn who has credible information & who doesn't.
This site and Cheers & Gears have more insiders and people involved with GM (directly or indirectly) than any other site I can name.
You don't have to believe any of this, but if you are waiting around till someone does an "official" announcement, you'd best simply sit at home & watch TV till it shows up on CNN or MSNBC.
By then, it will be old news to us here.
