GT500 Vert is out in the open...
Re: GT500 Vert is out in the open...
The GT-500 was primarily created to capitalize off of the huge market of collectors that are swooping up every Shelby in existance. Carrol Shelby himself is even authorizing and documenting newly created Shelbys as being authentic now. If you went down to Barrett-Jacksons or merely watched the auctions on SpeedTV, then you'd understands Ford's decision to capitalize off the phenomena. Ask yourself this, why bring back the GT-500 when the Cobra and SVT has become so successful for Ford? Just last week I saw a new black 2005 Mustang. It had gold Shelby stripes down the hood, roof and trunk and appeard to have a body kit. Down the side more gold stripes and GT-350 stickers. Behind the wheel was a grey haired dude in his 60's with a huge grin on his face.
The GT-500 was not designed for you, or me (a 40-something officially for that past 3 weeks
). The GT-500 was designed for rich old dudes like Carrol Shelby who either have/had a real GT-500 in their stable. Hence the reason the Legend himself is behind it and in the photos.
The new Rousch is just plain ugly IMO. Its too modern looking to fit the late 60's inspired look of the new Mustang. This why the "retro" GT-500 works in so many ways.
I just can't wait to see if Ford's going to bring back the GT-500KR.

The previous-generation Stage III car had a supercharged 5.4L, so you can bet that the new one will as well.
No word on price...

Look back at my other point. I have seen two 2005 Mustang GTs recently that had been given the Shelby GT-350 treatment, one was yellow with black stripes and one black with gold as mention previously. Both were driven by older gentlemen in their 60-70s. As these dealer prepped GTs cosmetically look similar to the forth coming GT-500s, what other market can they be targeting but older guys with disposible incomes looking to remember their youth?

You can bet the FARM the next one will have a 3v 4.6 with eaton inside. Pushing no more then 430hp in normal driving conditions. And Bob Cosby is right, The previous generation Stage III had a s/c 4.6 2v.

But it will make a lil more then 430hp if its real cold outside.

I honestly dont see the 4.6 pushing past the 460 range dependably. Ford really should go to the 5.4, but they need to nickle and dime that 4.6 some more i guess.
