Lets not forget Toyota copied everyone for there pushrod nascar truck motor. This is admitted by the Toyota design team responsible for the NASCAR motor. My Question is. When will toyota start producing pushrod V8s for there trucks?

Well yes....the HEMI, is not really a hemi...but it sure works. To me, it feels like an LS1 with LOTS more torque. It's surprising how well it moves our 5,000 lbs Durango.

Off the line, the ECM does alot of torque managing (no smokey burnouts)....but the midrange is phenominal. I am still amazed at highway speed passing maneuvers......

Check your rearview mirrors, initiate your turn signal, stomp the gas, pass slower traffic, scan your speedo.....HOLY CRAP, I'M GOING 90!!!!!!!!!!

I find it funny that he says the Hemi is just a LSx motor with a different name. While the new Hemi may not be the same as the old, it has more influnce from it then from a wedge motor(LSx). The only real difference, I see with the new "Hemi", is a better designed combustion chamber. They just changed it into a pent roof design to help bring down the chamber ccs to help with compression without hurting flame travel.

If you still think there isn't a much of a difference between the new "Hemi" and the LSx motors think on this: The Hemi produces something like 90% of its peak tq at 2500rpms. The only motor that does this better is the Toyota 5.6L motor. Not even the Vortec truck 6.0L motor can beat the rebadged LSx Hemi motor.

Re: Great LS2 info...

you mean the Nissan 5.6L. but think about this, the Nissan and the Hemi are both BRAND NEW motors you're comparing to one that's been in production for something like 8 years now. the LS2 is supposed to be much improved at getting the air in at lower speeds as the article states. so it puts those motors on a more equal footing. of course since Chrysler has had YEARS to study the modern small blocks it isn't too difficult to imagine them finding ways to improve the design. I'm sure GM's figured out most of the same things and probably a few things it's going to take Chrysler a few cycles of their own development to figure out too. the Nissan being a cammer, has to give up the top end to get the proper low end while the LS2 gets pretty much the best of both worlds.
