something GM should do (especially for luxury cars)
something GM should do (especially for luxury cars)
GM should put carpeting in the wheel wells. Audi does this and it is a nice little feature that isnt all that well known (at least i dont think so) but the point of it is to cut down on road noise, especially from little things (grains of sand, pebbles, etc.) flying up in and hitting the wheel well. Just an idea.

Pffft, and waste $2.50/car for material and labor? The General? Pleeeaaase....Bean counters would have a stroke.
I think Chrysler or Ford might pick up on that first...that is a neat feature.

Carpet in the wheel wells? Interesting idea, but I can't help but think it would look like you-know-what 20 minutes after you drive the car off the lot. How does that stuff stand up to a couple winter months of outside abuse?

Ummm, I just spray on 5-6 coats of 3M Liquid Rubber under the wells. Does cut down on noise and cleans easily. Would be nice to have the factory do some sound damping though. My wife's 2000 Venture is as quiet as a Cadillac inside. Sounds like my Camaro inside only when you roll down the windows

They would just use cheap glue and they would all come half *** unstuck after 6 months, and you would have a couple of them hanging down rubbing against the tire makin all kinds of noise. The exact opposite effect it was goin for

I guess they have them on some Lexus's/Toyota's too...I was talking to my friend who works at a Toyota dealership about it and he said he's seen that before...I'll try to get some digipics for ya.
I could just imagine how nasty those things look after even just a week of normal driving though

Yeah, that would look hidious... Man, imagine the smell of those things after awhile... Yuck.
Maybe they should look into a new material that doesn't absorb water or any of that crap, but isn't hard and won't make noise. Perhaps the material those 'spill-resistant' shirts are made out of? lol
