Great LS2 info...

For those that love technical details of engines, and why this particular engine is so cool:

LS2 details

I especially like this part:

CAC: Like the Gen 3 was before it, the LS2 is a great engine. You and I talked earlier about how Chrysler kind of stole your design with its Hemi. Imitation is the best form of...umm...

JL ...the best form of flattery.

CAC: Yeah. That's it!

JL: If you look at their bottom end, it's nearly the same size bore and stroke. If you look at their cylinder head-with the exception of the two spark plugs and the hemi chamber-it's very much the same. In fact, the diameters of the intake and exhaust valves are exactly the same as ours. If you flow their head and flow an LS6 head, the lines lie almost right on top of each other.

CAC: Ya did all their work for 'em!

JL: Well...the (Hemi) name helped. Give 'em credit. They've done a great job with the marketing.

"It also makes virtually the same power as the 405hp LS6 using a camshaft having a profile which has less lift and duration."

Wow, imagine what aftermarket cams and headers are gonna do for this sucker!

I don't know about the LS2, but I do know that the HEMI head has port velocity that resembles what you see in F1 heads! I would still like to see what people can get out of those engines.

Wow, GM did something first. They put heads on an engine block. Whats next manifolds? I cant wait for Y3k when they come up with their next ground breaker.
Please forgive my bluntness.

put down the crack pipe and go stand in the corner for an hour. only then you can have the chance to ask for an apology and take it all back.

LOL, the qoute at the top just rubed me the wrong way. He's saying its a good thing Chrysler has marketing or nobody would by thier cheap imitations.
Lots of good information in the article maby a better quote should have been given.

Re: Great LS2 info...

from the article, on the part talking about the new ECM there's this:
CAC: Skip-shift is inside the controller, as well?

SB: Exactly.
does that mean we can say goodbye to the cheap resistor trick to defeat it?

Re: Great LS2 info...

I belive skip shift can be eliminated now by going through the ECM and removing it?

Chill a bit man. He makes a very valid point about the marketing of Chrysler and the "Hemi."

Actually, marketing an engine was pretty risky, and it really panned out for D/C. What a great brand they have (re)established with "Hemi" now!

There was even a segment about this on the Autoline Detroit TV show with D/C's marketing folks.
