I don't know about the brand new 04's, but you'll find slightly used 03's for that much.
I asked the dealership about the Cobras's just yesterday and theres no rebate on them right now.

Probabally because the 2004 run is done.

Last day to order any Mustang is next Friday. I'm assuming SVT stopped taking orders already.

I really dont understand why the Cobra wouldnt get one and the Mach1 does. IMO, the Mach is the much better looking of the two.

That is almost always the case with the higher end models. Even though it is the end of the model year, people would still be willing to pay close to MSRP on a 2004 Cobra.....that may not be true for GTs and mach 1's since the 300hp 2005 GT is just around the corner. The next Cobra is atleast another model year away.

Just came back from BON.

The last day for Cobra orders is February 27th (this Friday!).

If you want to order your own, you have about 45 hours.

This scenario alone should tell you how BIG the 05 Mustang is going to be.

Think about it.

I think the opposite will happen. Maybe not at first, but give it time. Think back to 92 with the Camaro. After the popular Third's were gonna be replaced with the 4th's, they sold considerably less than normal in 92 because people waited to see/buy the new cars. Then 4th's came out to OK sales at first, had two pretty good years, then it went nothing but down from there and fast. I'm seeing the same thing happening with this car, especially because of it being retro. Like I said, people who wait instead realize this afterwards alot of the time.

IZ28, if you love the Camaro, you'd better hope Mustang cleans up. And I think it will.

I'll bet the first two years production will be in the 160-180,000 range. There are enough new Mustang models...and new Mustang powertrains in the pipeline....THAT WE KNOW OF...to sustain brisk sales for some time.

By the time we see a new Camaro, Mustang will be due for it's mid-cycle tear up, after moving nearly half a million units.

Ford is going to hit the jackpot with this car.

The 4th gen Camaro's best sales year was 2 years into it's new design, 1995 (122,844), and it never sold anywhere near that afterwards. The 3rd gen's best year was it's 2nd year, 1984 (261,591), then petered off a bit till 1988 then just lost it's steam (by 1980s standards).

The PT Cruiser is 4 years old already, and was projected to sell just 40,000 vehicles per year. Chrysler ended up selling 180,000 the 1st year, and increased production to 300,000 the 2nd.

They are currently still selling between 9-10,000 per month (+/- 110,000 cars per year), still far above the 40,000 predicted. With 3 exceptions, today the PT still sells more than Camaro has sold annually it's last 15 years, and just about what Ford's Expedition is selling.

Just wanted to point out that PT Cruiser, despite being retro, and despite it's sales drop from those insane amounts from a few years ago, is most certainly NOT hurting in sales. It's annual sales profile is alot like the "futuristic" 4th gen & "modern" SN95 Mustangs...only alot bigger. It's still Chrysler's cash cow.

Just wanted to nip the "retro-always-peters-out-early" and the "PT-Cruiser-is-floundering-in-sales" debate before it starts.

M*stangs need a broader appeal. This could be the M*stangs 4th Gen IMO.

wait, does sn-95 to new edge count as a different generation due to other changes (not merely cosmetic) all through the car?
If it does, then this 05 mustang is ironically enough, the 5th gen, making this board keep its name, even if they do drop the camaro from chevy totally. convenient, eh?
