GOOD NEWS!!! GM see's Strong Q1 Sales!!

Thought some good news was in order...

GM sees Q1 industry sales "stronger"

All Reuters NewsNEW YORK (Reuters) - General Motors Corp. expects 2006 industry revenue to grow at about 5 percent, while first-quarter revenue will be a "little bit stronger" than expected, GM's chief sales analyst said on Monday.

"We expect industry to grow at about 5 percent revenue clips, and it will be a little bit stronger in Q1 than what we anticipated," Paul Ballew said at the Morgan Stanley Global Automotive Conference in New York.

GM has a bad habit of 'settling' once it's not losing money. Toyota never rests. I hope this doesn't go to their head. They need to keep on pushing.

Given a loss of $10.6B last year, I don't think anyone at the company is going to look at one improved quarter as a reason to throttle back.

OK, obviously they're going to keep on pushing, I'm just saying hopefully they keep on pushing just as hard. The GMT-900 trucks have a great interior, for example, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be better. Keep working on it.

I agree with Threxx. What GM has shown through market loss is that they have the potential and technology to make some of the world's greatest cars. However it kind of goes up and down every few years from good to bad, great to horrible.

That quote is about industry revenue, not GM's.

With GM's continued loss of market share, I'm not so sure they're participating in that revenue increase.

I guess it's like GM saying that Toyota is going to have a great quarter, but I hope that GM will be a major contributor.

What I don't understand is why all the GM commercials are about their trucks and SUVs? Sure they are great and new, but they alone are not going to keep the company afloat. They need more commericals about their new cars and small cars, G6, Malibu, Cobalt, etc. I know they all may not be the best thing right now, but they need to get the awareness that there are new and improved cars out there.

Pontiac's got some great commercials for the G6 and such, they should keep airing them.
