I still wonder if that is what this car is and we still havn't seen the Charger. Can anyone explain why Chrysler has been draging around the 99 concept if this is what the Charger is suppose to look like?
After 1999 the Charger concept was put away, and wasn't really dragged out anywhere. It was supposed to be a sneak peek at the next RWD Intrepid replacement (initially due in 2001), but was stopped in it's tracks, along with a vault full of future Chrysler vehicles when Daimler slammed the door on them.
It's been no secret that the new Charger was based on the LX structure. The LX structure has a high beltline, therefore the Charger has a high beltline. Chrysler was very open about the sheetmetal being different from the 300. That means the skin would be different. In short, the car would be proportioned much like the Chrysler 300. There shouldn't be any shock or surprize to anyone here.
Though the body is right, we might wasnt to hold judgement to the exact look of the nose & rear end should be held in check till we actually have pictures. I have reason to believe the front isn't completely accurate, and that the whole car looks better than the drawing suggests.

If you cruise the Mopar sites....the response to this drawing has been completely underwhelming. Can't say that anyone is really hot for this car....if this is really the car.
But it's odd. Those who have seen the Charger.....and who have confirmed that it was Charger that they saw...claim the car is extremely swoopy and sporty.
This rendering may be many things.....but swoopy is not one of them.

Re: Good Charger drawing in C&D this month..
very very bad looking imo
truck front end, 4 doors, and a blase rear :yuk:
the 99 concept was dead on what i thought the charger should look like (save for the 4 doors, but atleast you couldn't really tell it had them)
hey z284ever, what mopar sites have you been on?
i'm curious to see responses from some of those guys

Pretty much all of them....
But Allpar, http://www.allpar.com/forums/index.php?showforum=65, has a number of threads...including the notorious 195 page and growing....Charger thread. Read all 195 pages and you'll get a good idea of what's going on.
You just have to know which handful of guys to pay attention to...and who to ignore.
