GMHTP Goes 13.16 in a New Pontiac G8 w/tune
Yeah, it looks like a little storage place now.
One thing that bothers me is the dyno numbers.
263hp on the dyno. 361hp is what it is rated for. That is 27% loss and nearly 100hp. I sure hope the don't know how to work a dyno.

You could kill TM completely and if you didn't beat on it all the time I wouldn't expect any /major/ loss of expected lifetime.
It will definitely not increase the liftime of the tranny, but regardless of TM on or off; if you beat on a tranny at the track it's lifetime will be drastically cut.

It's really like me bumping up the boost on my 335i's turbos with a tuner... lots of people like to say that it's safe but the fact is you're definitely increasing your risk unless you drive it like a grandma... and in that case why did you bother with the tune?
They also re-calibrated the transmission with the tune, raised the redline cut-off and raised the shift points. I'd say that is where the most gains were made. They stated with the stock tune the transmission wanted to shift early.
Yes the car did go 12-flat, with a shot of nitrous and a drop-in K&N filter. The printed magazine had additional pages where they did the mods.

EDIT:
"Using HP Tuners, Hauffe brought the timing up to 24, the air/fuel to 12.5, the shift points to 6,300, and the rev limiter to 6,500. Torque management was removed and the trans line pressure was brought up, the fans were set to come on at 190 degrees, and the top speed limiter was taken to an ambitious 200 mph. The tuned GT responded with 276 horses and 286 lb-ft, and we knew the trans/TM mods would yield big dividends."

Anybody know if GM is planning on turning that center LCD screen into something nav-capable? Seems like a waste to put a color LCD screen of that size into there without nav.
I also hope they change that 80s video game looking battery gauge screen at the center top of the dash.

Compare the height of the top of the screen in this picture vs the steering wheel. It is below the center of it. In the pictures you posted, the top of the screen is over the top of the steering wheel. When sitting in the G8, I did notice that the screen looked a bit low.
