GMHTP Goes 13.16 in a New Pontiac G8 w/tune

They started out 13.6 stock, 13.1 w/ tune and ended up 12 flat after some simple mods. The Ford boys from there sister magazine showed up with a "modded" Mustang GT and could only manage a 13.39

Did you mean they broke into the 12s? 12 flat means it ran 12.00, and nowhere on the page did it say they broke into the 12s.

Awesome car!

I think that was supposed to be 13 flat.

I was going to say, 1.1 seconds is a lot of improvement to just pass off as "some simple mods" without clarification.

How did the tune change the time that much? I've never heard of a tune knocking off half a second unless the car was already modded and not tuned right for the mods.

Has anyone run the GXP yet?

The stock factory tune was written for 87 octane only . Lots to be gained re-calibrating the fuel and spark trims in the G8 GT's for 93 oct. ....amd more to be gained playing with the torque management .

Anybody know if GM is planning on turning that center LCD screen into something nav-capable? Seems like a waste to put a color LCD screen of that size into there without nav.

I also hope they change that 80s video game looking battery gauge screen at the center top of the dash.

You can get nav systems in the holdens , not sure why the US was left out . The reason why was stated but I dont remember where .

From my understanding, the L76 engine is quite potent. Also, originally it was quoted to run 385 hp and 400 ftlb of torque, but got detuned before production, and it runs on 87 octane. I think a tune could do quite a bit.

I am not sure there are any GXP's to run yet, but maybe holden has some.

I can't see that thread at work, but I found a sweet pic of what one of the Holdens use in that space. I like the analog gauges much more.

They're still there in those pics, or at least there's still the same screen/face on there... didn't see any with them lit up so maybe something else in its place that's hopefully not so 80s looking?

There is a close up picture of that space, and now it's just a little storage space. Maybe of a cell phone or sunglasses or something.
