Note that they weren't forced to do anything; they could opt out of the program entirely and sell every car for whatever they could. But if they wanted to sell just one slow-moving Colorado at the GM employee price, then they'd have to agree to sell every red-hot Cobalt SS at the employee price. Presto, no gouging.

Maybe Pontiac/Buick/GMC can run a similar promotion when the Solstice hits the streets. Want to sell a Sierra at $8k off MSRP? Then the Solstice goes out the door at sticker. Don't want to sell a Solstice at sticker? Fine, but then there's no dealer promotion on Sierra and you can watch all your customers go to the Chevy or Ford store.
I love this idea. So the dealers remain independent, but any factory kickbacks/etc depend on their actual pricing policy. Although I'd love to do away with dealers entirely, this seems like a more workable proposal.

FWIW, we have never sold a Pontiac over MSRP. As a matter of fact, the only ones in recent memory that we even asked MSRP for were Firehawks...GTOs we've always DISCOUNTED...not added to.

BTW, if anyone in the New England area wants a Solstice at MSRP (or maybe even better), PM me when the cars come out. If you can't find one without a markup, I know I can at least order you what you want and not charge over MSRP...probably less!
