If it isn't true, a lot of credible sources have an apology to make.

freep is quoting Edmumds.
We all know there will be big changes coming at GM. The particulars can change day to day and hour to hour. Everyone is looking for a "scoop". Whats the buzz today could be off the table by dinner time tonight. It's the nature of it.
I'd say don't over react to any news until there are official announcements made.

how long will this take? 2 years? Solstice will be at the end of its life cycle by then and so will the G8/Commodore. I'd like to see the 2012 Commodore be badged a Chevrolet Chevelle for the North American market.

If this is true then I might be done with GM. They decimated my brand and now this. The only car they have that interests me is the Corvette or if the bring out a new Buick Grand National. What are the Pontiac fans suppose to do? I want more than a Chevrolet but I can't afford a Cadillac. I really had hope that Pontiac would create a Trans AM to compete with the Infiniti G37. I guess those dreams are gone.

So for my 29th birthday today, I get as a gift the one thing that has pissed me off about GM for the last 5 years...the continual blundering and now death of Pontiac.
I'm ending this post here before I start a 3 page tirade about how absolutely asinine this company truly is to have gotten itself here. As an ode to my beloved Pontiac, I think I'll take home my most recent trade, a beautiful bright red '98 GTP coupe with 105k miles on it...
And go beat some Mustangs at the local drive this weekend. Long Live Pontiac...there will always be one in my garage
Always....

Honestly now...how did a brand go from GM's second best selling to cancelled in 5 years? It would be much easier to fix Pontiac's image than Buick's. Either way..this just proves that whoever is making the decisions with this mess has not clue..and certainly does not have making money in mind.

Buick must exist due to the Chinese market.

While it's pretty much been inevitable, it makes me sick to my stomach and literally makes me want to cry. I've been a lifelong Pontiac fan, my first car was a 1971 LeMans back in 1986.
But the fact of the matter is that the bulk of Pontiac's sales over the last couple of years have been fleet. When Pontiac pulled most of their fleet sales last fall, the "best selling" G6 fell almost to nothing.
Buick's image is fine and dandy in China and as long as that brand is a cash cow there, the U.S. version is just gravy. I'd wager Buick is a more profitable brand than Pontiac when all is said and done.
It will be interesting to see what happens in Canada, Pontiac has traditionally been a very strong brand there and will those buyers go to Chevy, or elsewhere?
Glad I have my 77 Trans Am. I'll always have my Pontiac!
