The GM answer to the WRX...

And it comes courtesy of Subaru.

GM has put the Saab 9-2 on the fast track for production as soon as '05 or '06. The 9-2 will be available as a sportwagon, 3dr/5dr hatchback and be powered by a Subaru boxer-four. A four-wheel-drive 9-2 may also appear and coincide with a Saab return to world rally competition.

Good Article

I thought that only Caddilac and Buick would get the Sigma platform, hmmm I always wanted a Pontiac Solstice with AWD and that Boxer four.. oh well at least it's Saab.

Thumbs up

Saab needs all the help it can get, and this would be a good start. It would be nice to have our own WRX.

Doesn't GM own a big chunk of Subaru? I'm subrised it won't be a turbo ecotec. Saturn was racing a L200 with a 315HP turbo 2.2L Ecotec

GM does own a chunk of Subaru, Im just not sure how big of a chunk it is. I Wonder why they chose to go with the Subaru engine as well?

"Here's good news if you hate the Saab 9-3X concept: The 9-2 won't look much like it."

Quote of the day. The 9-7 and 9-2 would be good for SAAB and I'd be giddy as hell to see a good GM presence in ralley. I could stop rooting for Makkenin because he's driving a 10% gm car

I believe it's 20% of Subaru's parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries.
