Gentlemen, your $125,000 '05 Mustang awaits...
Ironic that with all the talk of "overpriced" Z06s and six-figure Blue Devil Corvettes being silly because they'd "just be Corvettes", Ford is set to release to very select dealerships this hum-dinger:

Only 25 built, sold at select dealerships, not street legal. Who's buying?

"200 lbs lighter and 100 more horsepower..."
Wow! So for a mere $90,000 I can get a mustang with a heads/cam upgrade and have interior stripped out!? No Way!
OK, so I'm over simplifying things, but you could definately do more with a lot less than that thing.

its probably just to homologate this specific version of the Mustang, so it can be raced..
As in, 25 production vehicles, sold to the public, is just enough to deem it a production car in the race series.
$125k does seem kinda pricey though.. wonder if they just end up going to factory supported race teams anyways.
also, add 1 more model type of this Mustang to the collector's trivia..

Those cars are aimed at a specific audience, and I'm sure they'll sell with no problems. Overpriced? Sure. However, those of you who haven't ever built a class racer of some sort might be surprised at the cost involved in building a competitive package. Even at my level in drag racing ("Factory Stock", using stock cams, unported heads, unported intakes, etc, etc), It's a $30-$40k proposition to go racing competitively. Drag racing....for 1/4 of a mile...against other weekend warrior types - and almost without exception, that is starting with a car that is already several years old.
Jump up a class ("Pure Street"), and add $10k to it. Jump up another class (Real Street), and you're now you are very easily in the $50k+ realm. It gets worse as you move up from there - and again, that's just for drag racing.
