We've had 6 come through the dealership, a Black 2SS/RS with white stripes just came in last week. All pre-orders except one 2LT yellow one. That was there for 2 days and was sold.

 

No...production at Oshawa is slowed down because the car is so big they can only fit so many in the building at once.

 

I've seen three on the road here in the Oklahoma City metro area: 2 silver and one black. I suppose it's possible I saw the same silver car twice, but not likely. Also saw a yellow one on display in front of a dealership.

 

I found the thread title (and the article title on which it's based) misleading. The title made it sound like more orders are coming in faster than the plant is churning out cars.

I was under the impression that production is making progress against the backlog of orders, and that GM expected to be caught up on all orders by this Fall.

 

Around here the only place I've seen them available is at used car dealerships. So weird. The local Chevy dealership told me it would take 6 months to get one once I put down my deposit.

 

I hope GM and the government take notice that these are the kind of cars that people actually want and the type of car that stirs up emotion among the public. Give people what they want and they will buy.

 

FWIW, I was at a local Chevy dealership yesterday at lunch, and watched them unload 4 Camaros... 2 SS, two base.

Went back today, and all 4 were gone...

 

I wonder if it was the same truck I saw on Wednesday night....in Canada....?

 

Because us dealers are being greedy *** bastards and selling them at the auction for over MSRP

I watched a $27,500 MSRP 1LT go for $30,300 last week, and a $40,700 2SS go for $45,900...no joke.

 

No bigger than the Mustang.

 

Cars on the whole are very expensive these days. I still don't think of any $40k car as "affordable." $23k starting for the Camaro is okay, but another $17,000 for a bigger engine and a few goodies seems like an awful lot of money to pay.

And as for appliance FWD cars, see my reply to the quote below:

When you look at the overall makeup of the automotive population on the road, the bulk is utility and appliance type vehicles. Unfortunately, that's what "the people" want. It doesn't mean they all have to be boring, but the Camaro is a minority as a vehicle. The bulk of sales is in appliances and general transportation.

Here in Seattle, it appears some Camaros are still sitting on dealer lots. I'm not sure if it's the overall economy, or ridiculous 2nd stickers, or what the deal is...

 

While I can't argue with any of that... I would also point out the lack of more than a few options in this market segment for quite a while... hard to buy what isn't there (for the most part)...

Me thinks the option list for the 2SS/RS and the LS commands slightly stronger words than "few goodies". Plus its really only $11K more. I don't think 21" wheels or GFX should be used in comparison pricing.
