GTO comes out. It's too boring.

We see pictures of the G8, with big wheel flares, hood scoops, and an agressive look overall, and its too overdone.

Give me the scoops, give me the wheels(even though they aren't actually going to be 20s, I think the 20s fill pretty well) and give me the interior options. Everything seems good to me.

And as for the first post, you don't have to tell people its a G8 and try to explain, you can just be like those people in the bad who wanted to convert their GTO's to Monaros, and call it a grand prix. That would be cool.

I am just trying to decide which color is the best. Silver or Black has to be the obvious choice.

I was one of the people who thought the GTO looked great, particularly in 2004 form with no scoops and no wicky-wicky taillamps. But it does seem that I was in the minority on that.

The scoops and the taillamps aren't a dealbreaker for me by any means. And I like the 20"s, I would probably order them up from the HSV catalog if Pontiac doesn't end up making them optional.

I just want my 6.5" color screen to have navigation

I imagine the base G8 will get the 3.6, and that a GXP version will get the 5.3 V8 if not something bigger.

They've already announced the powertrains:

G8 gets a 3.6 DOHC V6 and a 5 speed auto
G8 GT gets a 362 horsepower 6.0 V8 matched to a 6 speed auto or a 6 speed manual. 6 speed manual to be avail in model year 2009 (which, since the car is on dealer lots in the 1st quarter of 2008, could be right away - an early 2008 calendar year car can be an 09 model year car).

What is the deal with this engine? It's a Vortech, right? Is there some reason they would choose this over the LS2, or over any LS engine?

The 362 horsepower 6.0 V8 is the L76, which is a LS based engine - I don't know exactly what gives it the minor horsepower reduction from the 400 horse LS2.

L76 specs:
10.4:1 Compression Ratio (uses Regular Unleaded)
362 horsepower @ 5700 rpm
391 lb-ft torque @ 4400 rpm

So it's no slouch. I'm satisfied with it. More power than a Charger R/T in a lighter package with a better looking interior. Just make sure I can get all the options the Charger R/T has a.k.a I want that color screen to have nav like the Dodge boys can get.

That it does, but it shouldn't reduce the horsepower. There's an Australian variant of the L76 called the L98. The difference between teh L76 and the L98 is that the L76 has Active Fuel Management, and the L98 does not. And they are rated at the same power level, according to this http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=44651

It makes the GTO look a tad feminine...

I like the scoops. It's the back end I can't stand.

And I'm beginning to think that there's a reason I'm having problems finding pictures of it. (Viewable in the G8 video link on here)
