I reckon the VT-VX front design is very Pontiac-esque and very aggressive. Maybe a derivation of that theme will work?



Unless GM wants to create a new design language for Pontiac then the G8 must retain the Pontiac 'nostril' grille. It's worked for BMW but because GM has starved Pontiac of lusty product, the front design has been the subject of criticism.

maybe they'll just add the kidney grill as a pop in Pontification of the Holden grill.


So then I can simply pop off the grill and chrome trim and say, put in a nice silver or gunmetal colored mesh grill and debadge the rest of the car.. without having to replace entire clips..

Hey slightly O/T does anyone know why this announcement of the G8 has put some Pontiac Owners noses out of joint? The amount of bile thats being spewed over a car they havent seen on www.gminsidenews.com is puzzling. Is it because of the GTO?

 

I dont see where youre talking about. Do you have a direct link to where they say they dont like it?

 

If you dont focus too much on the Pontiac emblem you can see the circle where the Holden badge was. Its definately a photoshop. It doesnt jump out at you until you finally see it.

 

And they didnt get the arrowhead centered in the grill either.

 

Hey remember that time Pontiac imported a Holden without redesigning the front clip? We bought one, but apparently not many other people did.

Also, remember that other time Pontiac released the Solstice and it sold out for the year?

Yeah, that's why the clip would be redesigned.

 

Ok, I'm not one to bad mouth anybody, it's just not my style.

But, I've learned in my 5 months that I stayed away from sites after I left C&G....automotive "enthusiasts" have lost their minds.

I say this for one of two reasons. When the Malibu was officially introduced, it got slammed by people in the 'net. Same for the Volt and to a lesser extent the CTS.

I'm glad our forums are not big but our .com is. When the forums get big...we'll hire somebody to police them, haha. Off topic yes, sorry.

 

I believe a lot of the angst is more about the Grand Prix going away than the G8 coming.

 

Josh, on the 'net, anything that doesn't have 1,000 horsepower, weighs 2800 pounds, looks like it was designed by someone in study hall who drags their knuckles and pops Ritalin, created without any concern for sales numbers or profit margins, and costs no more than $8000 so a high school kid working 2 minimum wage jobs part time can afford is going to be slammed by "enthusiasts".
