apparently some guy who is lending ford his old shelby to sit next to the new one at the N.Y. show Is quoted as asking a ford rep about the HP of the new shelby.450 is listed, but its closer to 500. If this car comes in under $40,000, im in.

Thumbs up Re: full cobra pics

Not bad looking at all... any guess on price? Will the Shelby name jack the price way up? Or are they going to try and make it somewhat affordable (e.g. $35-$40 grand). Cuz nice though it is... it's no way in the same league as the Z06... despite all the rabid salivating and speculation from some Mustang fans that somehow this would be comparable or faster than the Z06. Not by a long shot .

Yeah, but that same guy also claimed 3V heads on the 5.4L, so ... (if I'm thinking of the same link you are, which it sounds like based on your description). Of course, the Ford GT was clearly a bit underrated, so it is certainly possible.

Thats what they want u to do and it makes since from a business perspective. But they are just trying to steal ALL of GM's potential Camaro sales by ramming many different mustangs down our throat. It's like they are still celebrating victory of the pony car wars like they did when they sc'd the 03 cobra just to rub it in our faces. DONT BUY IT.

If that thing is under $40k, and with the solid axle I think its POSSIBLE....You're not going to be able to get one for sticker for the entire first year. That would be a screaming deal. Lets see if Ford can pull it off.

I hope Chevrolet is paying attention.

It is not designed/targetted at the Z06, and won't compete with it (though some will, of course, compare it to the Z06 - if nothing else just to "prove" the superiority of the Z06).

Everything I've heard says prices should be between $35.9K and $39.9k. That's not counting dealer mark-up, of course.

it should be less than $40,000 according to various rumor mills

so it'll be like a bit more than half the price of a z06

If that's true then as Eric Cartman would say... "Kickass!". At say $37 large, that would be a performance bargain (relatiely speaking)! Hats off to Ford for putting their money where their mouth is!

To hell with GM, they've done it to themselves.

Yeah I know - that's why I said 'rabid salivating and speculation from some Mustang fans' . Personally I think Ford is gonna hit this out of the Ballpark by introducing an 'attainable' monster factory musclecar that people will want not because they think it's a Z06 'killer' but because it's just plain frickin' brutal and the best performing factory Mustang ever.

Re: full cobra pics

Agreed.

And you know what? I just read a post on another site from one of those "'rabid salivating Mustang fans" who did indeed call it a "Z06 Killer".

Oh well, takes all types. LOL.
