...Over Red Planet's dead body!

Whether Camaro comes back or not is open to debate. Whether Camaro comes back as FWD or RWD is unquestionable.

I remember this debate when I 1st came to this site back in 98. A few people here (long since gone, I suspect) actually seriously argued in favor of a FWD Camaro as a way to sell to youth & become part of the tuner market. They pretty much got chased off this site.

If Camaro was going to be FWD, it would have done so already. Safe to now say there is no way in hell it'll be FWD. Not just because Scott says so, but also because the General Manager of Chevrolet, GM's North American president, and GM's Product Development Chairman all say so.

Not to take anything away from Redplanet (yes, I know he lives Camaros), but putting things in perspective, if they wanted to make Camaro FWD, there wouldn't be a thing that Red could do about it.

Fortunately, there are people who make the big and binding decisions who know what Camaro is. Camaro ISN'T FWD!

A front wheel drive Camaro would be such a mistake that some people should have their jobs canned. Probably won't happen but that's how bad of a mistake it would be.

There will be no FWD Camaro, let it be known. GM and the people in charge of the Camaro won't even consider something like that anymore. RWD is the direction more and more cars are going in and anything RWD is staying that way. They know the cars that have to be FWD now and the cars that need to be RWD, and the Camaro is 1 of them.

If the f-body was ever to have gone fwd it would have been at the end of the 3rd gen using the GM80 program.

Hahahah, this is the best post ever.

"Hey, I heard from some guy somewhere that the Camaro is coming back next year as FWD"

"No, all of the top guys at GM say they'll never bring the Camaro back as front wheel drive"

"You guys aren't convincing me! A FWD Camaro would suck! What does Bob Lutz know about GM that my cousin JoJo doesn't?!?!"

I mean, let's just be logical. Why the hell would they come out with a retro styled car that was FWD? To appeal to all of the old car fans that like FWD? That's kind of an oxymoron there, now isn't it?

I mean it's bad enough to even give enough credit to a bogus rumor to ask without looking around first, but then everyone turns around, gives valid points showing it's not true, and " dunno......you guys arent convincing me......."

roofle.

Thumbs down You can rest assured that....

....IF they even considered FWD...they'd have to can the ENTIRE Camaro team and Lutz too.....

Ain't no way in H E L L the Camaro EVER has FWD.....period.
