Four door Charger for next year is confirmed.

I thought they where going to have a concept this year within the next month or two?
Also, was looking around on the net and found someone that said that the Charger will have a 5.7 and the SRT will have the 6.1. They made the point of this being "know". Can anyone back this up?

Haven't heard anything concrete on it, in awhile.
Sure would be cool if Charger came with a six speed manual.

I like that they're producing the Charger, but 4 doors
Better than nothing I suppose and perhaps cheaper insurance, but I'd rather have two doors on a car like that.
How can he say there's no market for a coupe when GM (GTO) and Ford (Mustang) are in that market? Do you think he means they can't compete in that market? Makes me wonder how much it's going to cost

Got this off of ALLPAR. It was last updated 3/01/04.
"A Dodge Charger seems to be in the works, though Stuttgart has not yet approved it, and given its ability to humiliate Mercedes cars, it may be cancelled. This short-wheelbase, four-door sedan has suicide doors in back a la RX-8/Ion, so it looks like a coupe but has the ease of entry of a sedan. The engine is said to be a 6.1 liter Hemi and the performance comparable to the base Corvette. Looks are, well, in the eye of the beholder. Expect minor visual cues around the front fenders to be the only sop to tradition. This will not be a work of art like the original, but it will look like a modern Dodge."

I love old mopars but the way dodge has been going... i mean ever since it went to germany its been getting worse and worse. All they care about is luxury cars that cost an arm and a leg, like benz, etc. But letting the quality slack in there other platforms. I dont know how many trannies we have gone threw on our work truck...i think 2 now with only 50k miles to the dot. Thats with regular fluid changes and no heavy driveing. The motor is also starting to blow smoke. Look at the new SRT-1O for Christs sake, they are already haveing "qaulity" issues on such an expensive truck you would think it would be built like the E class benz or sumthing. Same thing goes for jeeps, a fully loaded grand cherokee will go into the upper 40's and many of the owners i know have already had issues with them. Chrystler is slacking and people are catching on. Now they are trying to revive the market with the new "hemi" and playing off the old muscle cars. Hopefully the new charger will be an improvement, but knowing chrystler it will prob be another crown vic, slow too big and a sled. Or it will go the way of the marauder for mercury. I really hope i am wrong though, now all we need is our beloved camaro back, the trans am, and the chevelle to have almost the line up we had 40 years ago.

if the charger's suicide doors are small enough, whats wrong with that idea? How it looks will be the deciding factor, but i think it is a great idea! Why can't a sports car have easy access to the rear seats? Thats just my opinion though.
Well, I'm just glad to hear that Charger is most likely coming back. There are rumors as to whether it's going to be a 4 door, what it's going to look like, what the engine size is going to be and what transmission it's going to have. I take all the rumors with a grain of salt because at this point anyone who claims to KNOW anything is most likely talking out of their a$$. I'm just going to hope for a good looking performance car and wait until I get to see the thing in person before I decide what to think about it.
