I think next gen Focus shares platform with Volvo 40 series.

Now, when Volvo 40 came out, there was definitely an Audi look around A pillar (windshield angle, curve, and pillars), and the hood lines, too.

Seeing as this Focus will share platform with S40 (I believe ? ) it is not THAT surprising that it shares its style as well.

S40 should be neat, especially with 300 HP and AWD.

Don't think we'll see that powerplant in Focus, though.

How exactly could you describe the Wimpala as creative? The last Wimpy SS I saw was pushing $33K MSRP, altogether too close to a 300C.

The Chrysler 300, though not dull, is selling like hotcakes IMO because it's an expensive car selling at a firesale price. If Cadillac sold $23,000 V6 CTSs, they'd probally sell like crazy too.
1. I'd argue that the non-Hemi 300s are very ordinary cars with exceptional styling and the modern "peculiarity" of RWD. If you're not talking 300C, you're not talking performance.

2. The upcoming 2.8 HFV6 CTS should be closer to the price bracket of a base 300, or for that matter, a Camry LE V6. Sadly, the CTS 2.8 will probably be priced above the 325i, base G35 and any number of other superior cars.

Not really such a surprise IMO...
China has the largest GROWING market of car buyers on the globe right now. GM and FOrd have both opened new plants there, and are doing well.

I see this car being made for that audience as much as anywhere else. The Chinaman with a new job and new cash will probably opt for entry level cars - hence the Focus in Ford's lineup. It'll probably sell a zillion over there.

I'm pleading the 5th on my opinions about the styling. I need to see more pics and interior details. In a nutshell though - I guess it's OK. I'm not going to own one, but it's OK.

I also see some Audi in the side, but I really see the Lexus IS in the grill and headlight area. And the shape of the taillights remind me of the Volvo, as others have pointed out.

Now you guys stop bickering before JED busts a cap.

I was thinking the exact same thing about the IS300 front.

All in all, its a nice looking car and if in the market, I might seriously consider it based on looks.

The PROBLEM is virtually the same with all concept cars these days. They make this beautiful, appealing concept and then, to put is an editor for a car magazine put it:

"By the time it comes to showrooms, the manufacturer has bastardized it so much that it doesn't resemble to concept at all".

Thats why I don't get my hopes up over concepts.

It is refreshing to see that Proud hasn't jumped on the "political correctness" bandwagon.

In any case, the Focus isn't an "entry level" car anywhere except in the United States - especially China. Don't let all the Buick Regals used by government official fool you - those cars are purchased and fueled by the Chinese taxpayers. The real "entry level" cars in China are license-produced Daihatsu Charades and cars of that ilk.
