What do we know about the LS4 V8?

What do we know about the LS4 V8?

What do we know about the LS4 other than it will be an aluminum 5.3L and will go into cars?

3v or 2v?
DoD?
Compression over or under 10.1:1?
expected HP?

If it is the engine that is going into the Impala SS, Monte and GP than I would guess the engine would be tuned down so the tranny can handle it.

i dunno, but there needs to be some sense in the way they are numbering these things..ls1,ls2,ls6,ls4........whih one is the newest, has the most power etc...
I can see someone trying to tell his friend how the ls7 is sooo much better than the ls5, but its not......

Probably run on regular unleaded.

310 hp in RWD form.

But there are rumors of a hotter 5.3.

2v engine, all aluminum, 305-320hp, certified for car use. Thats all I know of it? The new trucks, I belive, are getting this engine to outdo the Ford and Titan engines. The 05 trucks will be rated at 310hp, no news on torque. Also, DoD.

atleast the one that's in the ssr

LS4 is the new 5.3L V8 for certified cars

LQ9 is the Escalade 6.0L V8, SSR has the LM4. LM7 is in the Silverado and LH6 in the new DoD 5.3L that come out this year.

Not every engine is called LS*

Every engine starts with an "L" not "LS"
LQ4 = 6.0L V8 (truck)
LQ9 = 6.0L V8 (truck)
LM7 = 5.3L V8 (truck) iron
LM4 = 5.3L V8 (truck) aluminum SSR
LH6 = 5.3L V8 (truck)w/ DoD
LR4 = 4.8L V8 (truck)
LU3 = 4.3L V6
LL8 = 4.2L I6
L52 = 3.5L I5
LK5 = 2.8L I4
L67 = s/c V6

LS3 = 1.0L 3cyl
LS5 = 1.6L 4cyl
