Ford shares at 22 year low
Inspite of the more impressive paper value vis-a-vis Ford and GM, the problem with Ford is that they don't have enough vehicles that conquest sales from its rivals or, at least in the short term, look to open new doors with its newest offerings. Ford's market share is slipping faster than GM's. Haven't the alarm bells rung there yet? Apart from the new Boss engines and the new, hi-tech V6s, what bright new spark will reignite Ford?
Ford look to be copying GM's approach ever since Lutz arrived but it's definitely not working. How many times have Ford concentrated on developing a new design language under J Mays, only to fail dismally each time? Why have Ford not concentrated on re-energizing Lincoln (as GM have done with Cadillac) and why are they persisting with Mercury (a deadend brand)?
Yes, I also have a dim view of Ford. They are punching bags for GM and Toyota. I'd sooner have a Dodge/Chrysler than a Ford although Mustang is a nameplate I revere - but I refer to the cars of the late 60s/early 70s, not the Mustangs of today.

Lincoln is slowly coming of age. I am with you on Mercury, I dont know what Mercury is either. I believe its supposed to be an uplevel Ford, kinda the upscale, modern brother, but they need theyre own vehicles

I believe the plan is to boost up Lincoln's entry-level lux products to increase volume, and then phase out Mercury.
Fusion/Edge/Taurus seem like decent cars. I don't think Ford has a product problem so much as an image problem (people just aren't shopping Ford for whatever reason).

you cant just design cars and pump em out the same year totally redesigned. Ill be the first to say that the current line-up isnt the most attractive and needs some work, but the new stuff is imo, a lot better than what we had been releasing in the past. The Edge and MKX are really nice, Ford quality is a hell of alot better than the past, and there is alot of cool new stuff coming out in the near future like the MKS, and the new fusion, milan, and MKZ. There are going to be some nice releases at this years auto show.

Yeah Mercury, they get a big WTF? Is Mustang gonna be there? I've heard the interior is updated and makes the current Mustang interior look stale in comparison and the updated body is supposed to really move things along as well?
