Don't be pissed just because the last two recall threads I've posted in I proved that:
-Foreign recalls, at least now (never checked before), according to Google News, are just as well published and broadcasted as domestic recalls.
-Some people here are so biased that when a foreign recall thread is posted they join in the bash-fest like it's a new years eve party, but when a domestic recall is posted they whine that recall threads don't even belong in this forum.

Pathetic.

Speaking of Toyota...they are recalling nearly 1 million vehicles:

Re: ford recalls 3.8 million vehicles
I think the point is that with a title HUGE FORD, TOYOTA RECALLS
the artical represents both recalls, however mentions "Ford" 10 times and "Toyota" 4 times
those numbers are probably respective to the amount of vehicles recalled, but i guess i donno...

Re: ford recalls 3.8 million vehicles
The problem isn't in reporting the Ford recall.
The problem is that the Ford recall was the only headline that made it onto many front pages (including Yahoo's). You have to read deep into the article to hear, "Oh, yeah, and Toyota is also recalling 1M vehicles as well."
And Toyota's recall is as serious as Ford's--or more so.

J/K!Ford first recalled vehicles for this problem six f*ckin' years ago. If they want to turn it into a decade-long circle jerk, fine, but don't expect any sympathy from me for the bad press they're going to get. Either do the engineering analysis and recall all the potentially affected models at once, or go ahead on depend on statistic methods to determine which vehicles are failing at an accelerated rate. One of these results in a single big recall; the other will result in many smaller recalls that will keep the attention alive in the eye of the public.
But, hey, just keep blaming the media.

damned media bias!
besides, everyone in this forum knows that the media is the reason ford's are bursting into flames anyways, and its the media's fault ford isn't making near the profits its competition is. duh.

"Umm Hello Freedom Of Press, this amendment sucks... We need to revise it, Ford Motor Company is in need of help"
Re: ford recalls 3.8 million vehicles
What's funny is that the Cruise switches were probably made in the same place as the Nissan ignition switches were a few years ago that had them spontaneously combusting.
I hope the few cents per unit they saved by going with the lowest bidder was enough to offset the recall...

the issue isn't that the switch breaks -- switches break all the time -- its that the electrical connection between the switch and the battery doesn't include any type of fuse at all. had this fuse been installed it would have blown as soon as the switch failed and this would be a non-issue. a simple engineering / bean counter blunder to save a buck.
this is all what was said on the local news station who was leading the investigation and that brought it to national attention. their website is www.wesh.com but i'm not sure if they're entire report is online.
