Ford to cops: Crown Vic is out
The Ranger hasn't been updated significantly in 11 years and the current version will also be heading out of production soon.

There is only a 3% difference in lap times between a CV and a Tahoe.

Also, Grattan Raceway FTW.
I would like to see Ford somehow take the F150 frame and as many components as they can and make a redone Crown Vic. It would likely be heavier due to the increased frame weight but would likely handle better. Another option would be to take the Explorer frame and suspension and modify it for car usage, the tooling is paid for and it will be replaced by a unibody FWD based D3 version soon. It isn't like Ford doesn't have plants already setup to build the current Explorer.
Just things that pass through my mind.

This is what happened when the Caprice came to a end in 1996. Production was scheduled to end in the summer of 1996 but had to be extended to mid December 1996 to fill all of the law enforcement orders. Also Impala SS orders doubled in 1996 too.
If they are happy with the product..why not retyle it every 5 years and keep chugging along..thats my thought too..especially if your selling to just police???
