I think it will be pretty popular. I would buy one and I dont buy any factory accessories as a rule.

I've seen the cockpit cover on other roadsters. What's their purpose?

1.) Improved aerodynamics for when driving solo.

2.) The ability to cover-up while parked on a nice day, when you don't want to put the top up.

OK, though I still don't understand.

1.) are aerodynamnics that important when driving a convert? What's the aero advantage to the cover?

2.) same as #1; the cover doesn't offer any security or weatherability over being uncovered

Not badgering, but my curiosity is piqued. I especially now don't understand.

That I understand completely

It's the functional aspects that still have me scratching my head.

Actually there is a slight advantage.

No weatherability? Picture its a nice sunny day and you're buzzing around in your Solstice and you and your girl decide to pull into a resturant to get a cool drink and a quick bite to eat. You find a nice spot in front of the resturant to park where you can watch your car while you're dining. The cockpit cover allows you to quickly "zip-up" without putting the whole top on. When you are finished eating you can jump back in the car and the seats won't burn your girlfriends leg's from sitting out in the sun while you were dining.

Maybe you need to live in California or Florida to understand the true need for it.

Ah! Now I get it. Growing up with vinyl seats in my Dad's p/u I'm fully appreciative of hot seats and girlfriends' legs.

You can get cockpit covers for the Miata as well. This is just kinda par for the course.

Re: First pictures of Solstice Accessories

To me the cockpit cover doesn't seem to be of much use unless the top is a complete pain to close.
