I wonder how much we are talking though? I mean the Corvette really has no competition. Meaning there isn't a car like the Mustang that the Corvette needs to be within a certain margin of price for. So why not get some nice custom seats in there for a special edition model and charge a little more?

So I'm confused. This is replacing the Z51? Isn't the Z51 basically Z06 suspension? They didn't say anything about suspension upgrades in the article. Better brakes, dry sump, launch control. I didn't see anything about suspension. Anybody know anything about this?

You're right, the quoted article doesn't mention the suspension upgrades. I've read a few other articles about the GS, though, and all of those said that it gets the Z06 suspension.

I dunno...I would assume it's too much since they aren't considering it. Its not just the cost to make the seats...but the cost to design them to fit the car & change their assembly line or whatever to accomidate making these "special seats that only fit a Corvette".....this is a cost they would have to pass on to the customer. I'm assuming this would not be a reasonably priced option.

Z51 suspension is positioned between the base and Z06 in terms of firmness. The Grand Sport has specific springs, shocks, and gear ratios (the old Z51 equipment), but unlike the Z51 cars, it uses the Z06 brakes, Z06 sized wheels (to clear the brakes), and the rear Z06 swaybar (due to the fatter rubber out back). Manual transmission cars get dry sump oiling, rear mounted battery (because the dry sump goes where the battery was), and I think a diff cooler. Throw a Z06 body on it, and watch em fly out of the showroom.

My biggest gripe on the Z06 is that the roof does not come out. To me..that's just part of owning a Vette. I would rather have an LS3 (that makes within 60 rwhp of a LS7) and a roof that comes out than the Z06. You can however now buy a conversion for the Z06 to make it a targa.

Z06 weighs less also, but unfortunately the aluminum frame isn't stiff enough to support the car if the roof is taken out. I haven't heard if the GS' fenders are carbon fiber like the Z06's either. The Z06 has bigger brakes than the GS.

If only you could get the Grand Sport with F55 since it is better than the old Z51 package...

Everything I've read says the GS gets the Z06 brakes, front and rear.
