(from Ferrari Press Release) With the release of the 599 GTB Ferrari is presenting its most powerful V12-engined production car of all time.
Amedeo Felisa, Ferrari's Vice General Manager will announce today at the Detroit Motor Show the birth of the latest model developed in Maranello.
The new car is a concentration of Ferrari's most innovative and technologically advanced engineering solutions applied to a mid-front engined two-seater coupé. The result is a new benchmark for performance, driver involvement and design.
The Ferrari 599 GTB boasts class-leading power thanks to its 5,999cc V12 - derived directly from the Enzo Ferrari supercar - which produces no less than 620hp at 7,600 rpm for a weight/power ratio of just 2.6 kg per horsepower.
Ferrari has adopted the latest evolution in its tried and tested all-aluminium construction technology for the body and chassis.
The unmistakable Pininfarina design gives the Ferrari 559 GTB aggressive yet elegant lines which are perfectly integrated with the advanced aerodynamic solutions adopted to reach the performance figures attainable.
This new model is the symbol of Ferrari's production - the V12 berlinetta - and represents the latest interpretation of a theme that has seen such classics as the 250 GT, the 275 GTB, and the 365 GTB4.
The Ferrari 599 GTB replaces the last in that great line of berlinettas, the 575M Maranello, of which - together with the 550 Maranello introduced in 1996 - no fewer than 5,700 have been produced, a record for this type of model for the Prancing Horse.
The new car will be officially unveiled on the 28th of February 2006 at the Geneva Motor Show

Re: Ferrari F600 pics: The new Testarossa
Dear God what is Ferrari Doing?!?! That's hideous! It seems to me they have gone into abstract car design. People don't know its a ferrari because of a certain body style or something, they know its a ferrari because its red, has bache leather seats, a ferrari symbol, and looks like aliens had a say in the exterior body design.
Re: Ferrari F600 pics: The new Testarossa
Other than the penta-wheels I have no problem with it. Its obvious with the latest trend of everyone dipping into their "heritage" for inspiration Ferrari did too. It's a lot less bland looking than the 90s Maranello (which looks more like a Toyota Solara than a Ferrari), less gaudy looking than the over-the-top Testarossa of the 80s and nothing like the kit-car looking 70s Ferraris. But it DOES hook up nice with the classic featherweight 60s Ferraris. Example: it has the traditional rounded front fender flairs with the hood in between. If you take a good look at it you'll also notice that unlike the Maranello it hides its weight (appearance wise) quite a bit better. It looks nible and lithe, what a Ferrari SHOULD be in the first place.
Case in point:

Stop hating. Much worse could probably be said of the Camaro by those in "other" camps.

Ferrari's are so boring now. Paint any of the new ones other than the ugly enzo any color other than red and remove the emblems and nobody would even know they were ferraris.

there is a point of time in a relationship where you need to tell the other, it's just not going to work out anymore......
But then again, they did pen the Rossa, maybe they shoulda just made that into a production car.
This thing WILL NOT ever go into my garage no matter how much money I have.
If I was given one, I'd drive it to the nearest chevy dealership and trade for a Z06, deposit on a Camaro and boatload of cash.
