Even through a blizzard and an earthquake, here's your damned Chicago show report!
I am not loyal to a dead brand..I just am not gonna accept a Buick as a Pontiac replacement.
I get brand loyalty, I truly do. But lets be real here: the proposed 1st gen G6 GTP was supposed to be and Epsilon car with AWD and a turbo 6 with a stick right? What is this car? An Epsilon car with AWD and a turbo 4 making 6 cylinder numbers, with a stick. If this car had a Pontiac emblem on the hood I would venture that you would be writing articles about how awesome it is and how it is game changing. And knowing your history, you would have one in your garage within 3 months of SOP.
That being said why stay loyal to a dead brand? Do you hear any Eagle enthusiasts whining about how the Caliber SRT-4 should have been an Eagle? NO, they just moved on to another brand (likely with less loyalty than before). I honestly don't see what the big deal is, your brand is dead and if you want to continue to purchase new cars then you need to find the one that best fits your needs. If this car does that then what is the problem?

We just got back to Cincinnati after staying in Chicago for the weekend. Wife and I went to the show Saturday afternoon.
Just a couple real general thoughts...
Ford seemed to have quite a bit more people in their display than Toyota. There was a lot of negativity around Toyota. Hyundai had a lot of people, it'll be intense to see these three go at it
The LFA had a cool cut away of the car. Nice job from Lexus on that display
GM's displays were better than last year, but nothing too extravagant. It was probably the right image for GM to be displaying
Overall the displays were still pretty tame. Jeep had the Jeep course, which I've seen in previous years. Other than that, most of it was just cars on the floor with some on turn tables
Wife and I agreed that MB trying to push a green image didn't make a lot of sense.
I'm in love with the GS. It will be my next car in a couple years when I need a four door
XTS looks really nice in person. Has a great presence, but I wonder how much of the head lights will make production
New LaCrosse is a really, really nice car. The interior is very tasteful.
No one was looking at the Aveo RS
Even in a down economy, it was hard to get near the Mustangs, Camaros or Challengers. When things pick up, the pony car sales are going to get real hot.
The Acura ZDX is an awful machine. I bashed my head getting into the back seat, then watched four other people hit their heads getting into it, too. Cargo space seemed lame. I might be wrong, but I can't see many people ponying up $46k for one

I was at the Milwaukee Auto Show today, they had the Cadillac Converj and Corvette Stingray concept cars there. Plenty of Camaro's present including the Synergy Green and another with a ls7 engine.
Scott was interviewed on Milwaukee tv Friday night and I just found out today he held a discussion about Camaro's on Sat am. I wish I had known about it sooner, I would have went for sure.
