Is the tach on the GTO have the same "lag" as the F-bod's? For example, we all know you hit redline in 1st faster than your tach tells you.. and in neutral when you blip the throttle, you can hear the engine rev first, then the tach lags behind a bit.. Does the GTO do the same thing? CTSv? Vettes?

Hmmm... honestly, I haven't noticed this in the GTO or in my old Z28...
I will try it on the way home tonight and see if I can notice anything...

Cobra's Ive heard time and time again have a big prob with wheel hop , just like the GTO's , Corvettes in extreme situations suffer the same problem . In all those cars , there are rear suspension pieces out to correct the problem . It is just fine line balance the auto makers have to walk when selecting rear suspension components . The CTS-v with say BMR rear parts is gonna massively aid the wheel hop situation , but there is gonna slight trade off in ride . The tradeoff may be barely noticeable , but too much to a car maker when finalizing rear susp. components .
For the record , Cadillac has improved the rear wheel hop problem over the earlier 04's .

Good article. I don't remember the exact times, but the STS-V was about 3-4 tenths and about 1-2 mph quicker in the 1/4 mile.

Yeah i saw that mag and it has like 1 page write up on the comparison and its mostly the price they talk about and the options nothing else really. Caddy is supposed to have a B-series car that will compete with the M-series bmw or 3 series. Its a small sproty car kinda like a c-230 benz. Then caddy is supposed to make a roadster to compete with bmw and MB
Caddy is on the right track no doubt in my mind that my next car is going to be a caddy

Anyone want to take a stab at it?

FWIW, I checked the tach, and did not notice any lag....
Re: Drove a cts-v for a day
Yes, I belive that Caddy has played with the suspension, and I belive it was C&D who tested a CTS-V recently and found that this test car had very little wheel hop and scooted to a 4.7 0-60 time, .1 off what Caddy said it would do. Better then there first 5+ sec blast, wheels skipping like a school girl.

Re: Drove a cts-v for a day
I'm pretty surprised at how many IRS cars have wheel hop that I wasn't aware of. I've seen Vettes and Cobras do pretty impressive burnouts without hopping. Is wheel hop in some of thes cars brought out by a change in tires or upgrades in horsepower?
When I was running factory spec 225s on the Bird, it didn't hop on dry pavement. When I switched to running bigger, stickier 245s to take advantage of the handling, it began hopping alot easier.
Knowing how much alot of you Camaro drivers love lighting them up, perhaps the next Camaro would be better off with a good live axle perhaps?
Maybe the guys who decided to keep the Mustang live axle for now knew what they were doing?

Oh boy, god save me if my Camaro comes with IRS...what is a poor boy like me to do? Lord knows that people only drive in straight lines, and at full throttle.
Sorry, but Ill take my IRS, world-class handling, 400+hp Z28 with 6spd in red please. For the rest of you, enjoy your Mustangs.

COrvette's don't have a huge issue, I haven't yet noticed an issue with my GTO... CTS-V apparently HAD an issue, but they have corrected it...
