Is this a drawing of an '08 'Cuda??
Re: Is this a drawing of an '08 'Cuda??
Guy what about using the Mitsubishi Eclipse underpinnings to put this new 2 door Chrylser coupe on, as it will be the replacement for th Stratus/Avenger (is the Avenger even made any more)?
Re: Is this a drawing of an '08 'Cuda??
There were rumors last year of a Dodge "performance coupe" with a "six pack" under the hood, appearing at last year's SEMA show. It was a no-show.
Wonder how that might fit into all of this?

The Charger is back; now how about a Challenger?
The Chrysler group needs the new Dodge Charger sedan to be a smash hit as it tries to re-establish Dodge as a hot passenger car brand after years of stressing pickups and SUVs.
And the automaker wants to build on the momentum and marketing buzz generated by the Chrysler 300 sedan and Dodge Magnum station wagon.
So Dodge is using a full-court press to light up the brand's image. Advertising will emphasize performance and a muscle-car heritage. Consumers can indulge their fantasies with a base Charger that starts at about $23,000 or a hot, Hemi-powered Charger R/T.
But there also will be a version of the Charger that comes standard with a smaller V-6 that's just for sale to fleets. It could take as much as 25 percent of production, which will make demand seem even stronger. It also will increase the Charger's visibility by putting more on the street.
Not everybody likes the looks of the four-door Charger. ... Read the commentary

And the people who run these stamping machines are locked up in the basement (since Chrysler only made one of these cars) till they need these people again in a couple years to actually make the car, huh? I suppose they have Elvis and bigfoot in the back of the plant too.

I know you have more insight on the inner workings of Detroit then just about everyone here, but I wouldn't be suprised to find the LX coupe(s) secrets to be true given what we now know about the Charger project.
Manual? Yes. But it is dependent on a few things.
2nd plant? There's supposed to be, but it seems like it takes forever to get things like that approved at Chrysler. There's a shortage of Hemis, yet there's alot of foot dragging to get a new line running. After laying off the number of people they have, DaimlerChrysler is almost lothe to do anything that requires a new plant with more workers.
Smaller LX chassis? Yes, there is one in the works. I was under the impression it was going to be the upcoming Sebring & Stratus sedan replacements, but I doubt it now. Unless Chrysler is making a couple of smaller AWD sedans off that chassis, I'm at a loss.

Plymouth rumor? You are right, that's what kept the 'Cuda rumor alive. But by all indications, there will be no Plymouth line in the foreseeable future. Chrysler is going to be the only thing sold in Chrysler showrooms. Challenger, Coronet, Monaco are the names I hear thrown about, with Challenger being the top one.
Re: Is this a drawing of an '08 'Cuda??
Any speculation on the cost potentially(yes I know jumping the gun).
I mean when you have the R/T Charger and R/T Magnum with base prices of 29k couldn't it be very possible for this car to be around 25k if it came out. With the "little" Hemi of course.
How well would this line up do?
20k 3.5 V6 250 horsepower base
25k 5.7 V8 350 horsepower R/T
30k 6.1 V8 425 horspower SRT-8
Against the Mustang
20k 210 horsepower base
25k 4.6 V8 300 horsepower GT
39k s/c 5.4 V8 "450" horsepower GT-500
I think they would be able to substantially undercut the Mustang with that lineup. The only thing that I could see that would hurt would be the lack of the manual or possibly the styling(which honestly if it looked like that drawing by 58Hawk I'd buy it in a heartbeat).
Big question would be...
How in the world would the Camaro squeeze in there if that did happen?

They'd have to be better than the competition.
Re: Is this a drawing of an '08 'Cuda??
If the Challenger beats the Camaro to the market with that lineup...
that's some dang stiff competition.
Guess one could always hope that the Challenger was as ugly as the Charger

guionM,
What I said about the 2 door being in the back of factory is what I herd on other pages. Do I really believe that? not really, I agree with you that Dodge would be asking for it if they left it sitting there in the back of a factory.
As for us bench racing the modern challenger/mustang/camaro that's great but I'll believe in a new camaro when I see it or someone has some REAL proof of one lurking around GM

Put it like this....there are people who claim to have seen a real, driving, operational coupe...at more than one DCX facility.
There are other people who confirm that this coupe is the Dodge Challenger.
Getting out alittle further...this car is not merely a 2 door Charger. It is intended as a Mustang competitor. It will be smaller, lighter, (maybe significantly smaller and lighter), and supposedly handle phenomenally.
Rumor...substantiated or unsubstantiated...seems to put the Challenger ahead of Camaro in developement.

Oh, what the heck...lets spread more rumors.
Whatever this car was or wasn't going to be...the rumor was that the "six pack" would have been in the neighborhood of 300 hp.

Wasnt there also a rumor of the 6pack having a goofy large intake that stuck out of the hood?
