True, still not sure if I would take my chances though....

Question is, would you trust a Chinese company to even get that right?

It'll outsell them all. It will be a small, FWD ****box, which by design will appeal to a much more broad range of people than a RWD 4 banger will. It won't compete with the Miata/Solstice crowd, it'll compete with the G5/Cobalt/Tiburon crowd, and even if it fails compared to those, it'll outsell the Miata/Solstice.

Why not? 90% of the consumer products sold in the US are made in China to begin with.

The car is being designed by Chrysler. It's on a "Chery platform" in the sense that it will be designed to be built on a Chery assembly line. But it's a Chrysler product, for better or worse, not a Chery.

Exactly.

It's going to be dirt cheap and get great gas mileage. Who was taking four people on a road trip in a Tiburon anyway? Someone unfortunate, that's who.

If you can fit a good bit of whatever in the back it will sell. This is why Pontiac needs a Solstice hatch or hardtop.

Those other products aren't "engineered" to carry me at highway speeds around 5,000 pound SUVs either.

Unless this thing is like $8K, it's a non-starter.
GM learned from the Reatta and Allante that FWD two seaters don't work.

It simply boggles the mind that despite a graveyard full of failures, yet another car company comes out with a front drive 2 passenger sports car.

This from the same company that proved RWD sells, had the nerve to not only bring back the stationwagon but to turn it into the station wagon from hell, & had the gonads to bring out a traditional, old fashioned, big musclecar.

Mind boggling.

Very true. I wonder how much of this (if any) has to do with Chrysler's new ownership? Seems like a pretty big about-face to me.
