Dodge Demon roadster to be FWD on a Chinese platform
Dodge Demon roadster to be FWD on a Chinese platform
The Dodge Demon roadster concept went from a Solstice/Miata fighter to a Del Sol on a worse platform.

If its good looking and u could actually use it as daily car ( think ...somewhere besides the passenger seat to put stuff ) , I wouldnt be so qwik to call failure . I bet 1/2 the people that shop the Solstice and Sky dont know its RWD until their told it is . It WOULD be a failure as a performance type car though .
I think the Solstice and Sky were epic failures as useable cars , in contrast ...complete homeruns with looks and performance . The Miata score usefulness as a daily car and performance , but lacks in the styling dept.
Im not defending this car , I just think plenty of people will still buy it if it has curb appeal and usefulness . People still buy bug convertibles

Sheesh, even Honda had the sense to build the S2000 as a RWD two seater, and all they had at the time were FWD cars.
You may not "think" that people will realize or care what the Demon is; I have a sneaking suspicion that guys in the market for a weekend 2 seat sports car DO know and care. This isn't a family sedan, heck it isn't even a compact like a Civic -- it's going to be marketed as a sports car. Whole different audience entirely.
EDIT: Chrysler may be going into some very uncharted territory. When was the last time a FWD 2-seat sports car was built? I can't even think of one.

so will it be easy to park since all you need to do is tap it and it'll fold in half?
its pretty good looking though... sad they're doing this with cherry, the car company that blatantly rips off every major car maker out there.

even if this car is $5k less than the sol/sky, it will be a hard sell. cars this small with little room or utility have a small market. The only way this makes sense is if this car maintains looks (which was debateable in the first place) inside and out, priced right, and gets extremely good mileage.
Dodge refuses to build a proper Neon replacement it seems. There is such a fine line between markets and I can't see a huge amount of people buying these after the initial wow factor has worn off.

Anyone want to take bets on how many recalls it'll see due to the Chery platform?
Also, didn't a few of Chery's other vehicles get the worst possible crash test rating in Europe? I seem to remember a few horrific Youtube videos...

It belongs tot he philosophy of, if you get into an accident would you rather be dead, or have to pay the medical bills?
Depends on where it's built. After all, does Chery not simply reverse-engineer other manufacturer's designs?
