OTOH, if it can actually come in at the 2,600 lbs stated, and all the SRT-4's tuning ability applies - it could eat a GT500.

Plus I really can not see it coming in at 2600lbs. I would have to believe that 3K would be more realistic. Not that I doubting you or them but just seems like that it would drive the price up around to the s2000/Boxster price range no.?.
I think it's kind of cool. Price and performance being equal, I wouldn't buy one over a Solstice, but it's kind of cool. And I suspect it'll be quite a bit cheaper than a Solstice.
There's apparently an all-new very flexible small-car platform under there, btw.

If that car makes it to production with very little change it will be a smash for Dodge. Not mention with the option of the 300HP Turbo engine, GM better step up to the plate.
I would consider that over a Sky and Solstice if the price was competitive.

I think the next gen Solstice may surprise many.
I wouldn't say its better looking then the Solstice. However, I will say that it shows Dodge has the ***** enough to try something new and daring. Which again, is something that will either make or break the big 2 1/2. They must have the "in your face" designs to differentiate themselves from foreign rivals.
But come on now... the styling is comparable to the Saturn Sky, which I think is damn sexy. The Demon looks part Viper, part BMW Z3, part 350Z roadster. The Solstice is blander compared to the above.
However, perhaps the Demon will help push GM to do something special with the next gen Solstice... or maybe even push the Chevy (aka Stingray) version out the door.
Not crazy about the Viper look-alike front end (not crazy about cars that try to borrow something else in the showroom). But the rest of the car is certainly intriging. The interior IMO hits a bullseye the profile isn't bad at all, and the rear end has that Z3 influence, and combined with the viper nose, it all seems to come together almost in a mish-mash.
Not quite a revolting disaster, but kind of like looking at Picasso's more weird works in that it looks like a train wreak, you question if the artist was on something, but at the same time you can't stop looking at it, and the more you stare the more you appriciate it.

What if they could bring this car in for significantly LESS than Solstice, like say $20k for a 300 hp SRT variant?
What if it were a component of an all-new global small car strategy that also included a small sedan, a coupe, and something like the Hornet?
What if it were made in China?
Just asking.

1. Grille too big, too 'trucky'
2. Goofy wheel house opening arches
3. Teeny-tiny tail lights
4. Weird mismatch in front and rear fender lines
Styling is key in this niche. And the Demon doesn't have it.
