Dart, Duster, Demon or Swinger.........
I agree totally with the statement above. "Demon" just will not work if they plan to sell them in droves. That name alone is enough to scare off all but the crazed male types. I can just see the base Demon looking very scary as the name implies
I agree with not putting any of those names on the car unless they are on V8/RWD. Be true to the names or do not use them at all. Doing otherwise is ghetto.
I still don't even like the idea of the name Charger being put on a 4-door "sedan" regardless of power, RWD, looks, design to make it more coupe-like, etc. There should be an optional 2-door coupe. With a 2-door and a 4-door available with those engines and for a decent price, they'd sell like crazy. You can have other Dodges with 2 or 4 doors, but not the Charger??
Come on. If they want to truely compete with the Camaro, M*stang, and GTO, they'll have to take off those 2 extra doors sooner or later in some way or another. It'll happen, watch.

Hmmm don't wanna call it Neon anymore, how about the Dodge Pastel
Then again, since Neon is alsoa noble gas, maybe they should consider Helium, Argon, Krypton, Xenon, or Radon.

DCX dropped Mitsu because of slow sales in Japan, so why would they still be sharing a platform? My vote goes for neither. Call it something else.

Those stripes didn't say "'Cuda" or "AAR" or anything like that. They were.
merely in the same style as the AAR 'Cuda. And I thought that SRT-4 looked pretty cool with that paint scheme.

What's next? All colors ever used on a muscle cars can never be used again either?

Oh, and for the record... my uncle who is an avid dodge loyalist, would frown upon that./sidetopic

*Mitsu's ill thought out finance everyone strategy they came up with to attract younger buyers, but left a devestating amount of defaulted loans an debt to the company.
*Mitsubishi's Japanese management knowingly produced defective cars & then tried to cover it up. (http://www.detnews.com/2004/autosins...b03-180763.htm)
There was something else, but I don't remember offhand.
DCX owns about 37% of Mitsubishi's automotive branch.
The joint chassis & powertrain program has been in the works for some time. Since it takes years to develop a new car, it will probally be 3 years before any real visible fallout over DCX-Mitsubishi break effects any of Chrysler's cars or plans.
On Mitsu's side, Daimler's pullout combined with the Australian government also refusing to pump in any money, means Mitsu is going to feel the effects immediately.
Chrysler is already pulling out of the joint plant they operated with them, and Mitsubishi is making plans to pull it's manufacturing operations out of Australia.
The Mitsubishi Diamante is made in Australia (called the Magna there) and the Endeavor, Eclipse, and the Galant are all made at the plant shared with Chrysler's Sebring & Dodge Stratus, which I believe is something like half the plant's production.
That plus the fact that the car company has been shamed in Japan (over the defect scandal) and has seen declining sales there, along with DCX planning to sell some of it's shared in the company makes it pretty unlikely IMO that Mitsubishi will be around much longer than another year or so. At least in it's present capacity.

I dont care how fast it is, I dont like seeing that awesome paint job on a neon. I dont care if it doesnt say cuda or AAR... its obvious thats what its mimicking. If they had to disgrace something from the past, use of the many dart/duster paint schemes.... because those were small cars in their days. If they would at least use that paint job on a PONY car like it originated (cough cough hint hint dodge), I wouldnt care.... but no, they put it on a fast - four door econobox

With that said...when I saw that SRT-4 at the Chicago show I loved it. It pays fitting homage to Mopar's performance past ...without ( I think...anyway), ripping-off any legendary nameplates. I mean...come on!...it's orange paint, a flat black hood and some stripes that say SRT-4 on them.
What bugs you? The fact that it's orange? Or the the fact that it has a black hood? Or stripes which are similar (BUT NOT IDENTICAL!!!!), to a legendary Plymouth?
I'm into things being historically correct...but in this case we'll disagree.
BTW, I've been thinking. I hope the next SRT-4 is called Duster SRT-4 and is available in SUBLIME GREEN .

There were a ton of sweet paintjobs back then, including the ones on the dusters and darts. take the Duster Demon for example Its even a very similar, and also very cool looking paint job. I think if they have to use a historically based paintjob, it should be from a car in its class, which I think would be the duster/dart. Its kinda like seeing a "35th anniversary" cavalier with the exact same wheels, stripes, and even hood scoop as the 35th anniversary camaro. Just flat out stupid IMO.Oh, but I definetly agree with you about sublime green

How bout one in Panther Pink ?
http://www.angelfire.com/il3/mstrtbear/musclecars.html
Not a pink fan AT ALL but u gotta admit a 'Cuda still looks hot even in pink. The fact that it was a RARE factory color helps too.
