This should hopefully put the "Nothing quicker than Corvette" urban legend to rest. The CTSv is slightly quicker than the base Corvette, and merely a couple bats of an eye slower than a Z06 to 60 mph.

I bet it is even faster than the GM website claims since they always state perfomance figures on the conservative side.

I don't think the "Nothing quicker than Corvette" is untrue. I just think it mainly applies to Chevrolet. Same with I don't think the GTO will be topped by anything Pontiac. The CTSV IS supposed to be the "official" sports Caddilac correct?

EDIT: How will the CTSV stack up against the C6 or the upcoming C6 Z06?

Its comparing apples to oranges. I don't think GM would have a problem making a Caddilac faster than a Corvette. I'll be trading in the vette for the V since I just had a new baby and now have 2 kids, and yes, those #'s are problably "I'm a decent shifter" #'s and with a good driver i'm sure 12.7's are possible. If someone can bring the same motor to an 11.99, a 12.7 should be possible in a car that weighs 500#'s more.

Sounds good. The E55 and 2005 M5 have gone on to the next level but they continue to be about $25K more also.

The CTS-V is dead on with current M5 and old E55.

Well only if it beats the official GM numbers. The current base C5 hardtop runs about a 13 flat @ 109 or so. But I agree that the published numbers are conservative and the CTS-V will most likely be slightly faster than the C5.

The C6 however will again undeniably regain top performance. When does it go on sale? Both CTS-V and C6?

I dunno about going with the current LS6 motor. It seems obvious the CTS-V will get the '05/'06 Z06 500hp motor. If we know that, then only the uninformed are going to jump on the 5.7L '04 CTS-V only to get pissed off when 100 more hp comes down the pipe for the same price in '05.

True, but this is a 50k caddy, not a $24-30k camaro.
