CTS-V's LS2 *pic*
Re: CTS-V's LS2 *pic*
CTS is how you do a car right.
It has received a new engine or tranny every year it has been out.
'03 = 3.2L
'04 = 3.6L & 5.7L LS6, T-56
'05 = 2.8L & 6 speed manual for both V6's
'06 = LS2
They keep it fresh and sales keep climbing.

OT: I just got to see the engine bay of an '05 GTO yesterday for the first time in real life....why is it that it looks MUCH cleaner than the engine bay of other cars? Especially my Z28?? The area under the hood didn't look much bigger, if any bigger at all, yet it was so unclustered.
Re: CTS-V's LS2 *pic*
Do you mean "uncluttered"? If so I agree with you, and I find that is just the trend with newer cars. Stuff is easier to find and somewhat rationally laid out (not always). The underhood of my '05 Ion is very tidy, as well.

Also remember the price differences. The CTS-V is $50k; the M5 is somewhere near/over $90k last time I saw anything about it. Even the STS-V won't be that expensive (low to mid $70s, maybe?). And the STS-V is not intended to be quite as extreme as the M5; more for the luxury car buyer (sort of like the crazy-expensive AMG cars). The M5 comes with a seven speed semi-auto clutchless manual, while the STS-V and the Benzes come with automatics only (with manual shift capability).
Re: CTS-V's LS2 *pic*
I'm a little disappointed that the CTS-V will only carry an LS2, but it makes sense in Cadillac's product lineup when you think about it. Since the CTS is the lowest on Caddy's food chain, the CTS-V should also be the lowest of the V-series cars. A CTS-V having as much horsepower (or more with the LS7) than the STS-V isn't logical in the heirarchy. Similarily, the XLR-V will be the quickest Cadillac....ever.
Re: CTS-V's LS2 *pic*
everytime this comes up...
i fail to see why people need to think that the caddys should be the same as the 3 and 5 series beamers
caddy's got their own way of doing things and i'm sure that they're doing it well
just check the sales books

Re: CTS-V's LS2 *pic*
No one ever said the CTS-V would ONLY get the LS2. It is simply the engine that is taking the place of the LS6 for the '06 MY. Who knows what else may be coming down the pike?...
Re: CTS-V's LS2 *pic*
A 400 horse pushrod v8 is more than enough for the cts-v, why change a great thing? I'd much rather have the ls2 than a 350 horse northstar or even a 440 horse supercharged northstar, of which both would cost more than the ls2. We don't need an ls7 or forced induction or tanks of oxygen, the car is fast enough as is and it isn't an sts... I don't see why it's a big deal. We should be elated cadillac is continuing it's v-series effort and forgetting about soft fwd luxury grandma sedans.
