CTS-V info and PICTURES!

...While a $35k CTSv would be impressive, its a product that's pitched more towards a M5 niche rather than a volume luxury-performance market like the 540i. Believe it or not, some people actually don't want a luxury car that you have to shift yourself. Considering the type of driving I do, a CTS with an LS-1 and a slushbox would have actually been more desirable....
The Cadillac mentality has never been about "passing savings on to the consumer." The current Escalade pretty much proves that. Moreover, alot of people would argue that the Camaro SS wasn't a "zero-extra-profit" car for Chevrolet. I might argue differently, if only because the SLP outsourcing process seemed so expensive and inefficient.

Though the CTSv is certainly aimed at the M series, I don't see the 540i as a "luxury performance" car. CTS still outsells the 5 series, and most people chose not to get raped by BMW over their cars of late.
In short, I think you got it backwards. It's BMW that doesn't have the mentality of passing savings to it's customers.

What's up with the mesh grill and dingy grey alloy wheels on the CTSv? The standard CTS is visually boring, but the CTSv is more so. It's almost as if Cadillac is giving up every distinctive styling cue, both the good and the bad. This "fusion of design and technology" origami inspired bodywork isn't enough to make a car standout. I guess monochromatic anonymity is what they're going for.

CTS has been a huge success so far.
It definately stands out in a crowd.
Now, I can understand if you don't like the styling. This was a 'love it or hate it' look when it came out, though it seems a lot of people are warming up to it now that once did not, but anyway... "Visually boring?!?!?" I don't think so.

I drove a 2003 CTS and was actually surprised that it moved pretty well, considering it's not the 'performance version'
Now the CTS-V is coming and it looks to be an M3 (and M5 for that matter) killer!

How about a middle car to compete with cars like the G35

Price estimates seem to be hovering at "around $50,000" - but we hear the first number on the price tag will be a "4."
