4. We don't need something else that will break and tear up, especially when you start modding the car to 500whp.

I never said AWD had to be manditory on every Camaro.

In defense of the idea (I am pretty much open to the idea)
1) Not if the platform used already has an AWD capability built into it... which Sigma does. Of course, since the platform seems to be up in the air, this too would be up in the air.
2) Ya, maybe, but you can look at the history of Camaro ad pick a ton of things that coudl be "against the history" of the car... In 82, the car became a hatchback... in 93, it got plastic body panels, and was built outside the USA... there are a ton more. Making an AWD option is not much different than any of these, and you could still buy one without it, unlike the features above.
3) I'd think it would only add weight to the car if you opted for the AWD, though I am not an engineer, so I suppose it is possible that the design to have it option COULD add weight to a non AWD car, but I kind of doubt it.
4) Again, with it being optional, you can simply choose a RWD model.

Re: CTS sales on the rise
I can understand the resistance to the idea, though... no doubt.
Heck, I'm against the base model have a 4-banger, and I wouldn't even be considering a base model... so... to each his own.
I guess I can just see AWD as being a potentially valuable addition to the nameplate.... and it certainly would open the car up to more folks who are afraid of RWD in the snow.

Re: CTS sales on the rise
still, engineering for an AWD option will ultimitly drive the price up on all models. And the fbody never did do away with RWD and the V8 in the early 80's. It was a rare breed with the B-body and Vette being the only other cars that didn't get converted to FWD back then.

If we were talking about developing an AWD system to tack on to the old F-platform, I'd probably be against the idea....

The only way I'd allow it is if it was used on the V6's and even then I still hate the idea.

You could get either or... they'd both be "top of the line"...

If that is the case, then why not embrace the idea? I think a lot people would like the idea of having an even better performing option...
