The Cruze RS you can't buy here....
But the real news is the car's freer-flowing exhaust system that gives the 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine a 36-horsepower boost to bring output up to 186hp and the 0-62 mph sprint down to eight seconds flat.
I want one!
The euro Cruze RS optioned with the diesel weighs almost 3200 lbs.
I'd say it's making better use of its power than some 180hp gas 4-cylinder of 20 years ago. It's larger, has more crash technology including airbags, and more features.
Still - The reason for a Turbodiesel is that it also gives good fuel economy (40mpg on the highway is very realistic). So a Turbodiesel that gives decent performance as well as gets good fuel economy is always a welcome. And with a turbodiesel there's no need to upgrade if the costimer wants to run bio-diesel.
Truthfully - this is definitely a car that Chevy should build for the U.S. as well as Europe.
