I generally agree with you... I don't understand all the complaining about that wheels either... I don't think either are ugly, I just perfer a 2 or 4 spoke wheel to a 3 spoke for functionality.

The only other legitimate complaint I can think of is the lack of duplicate radio controls on the wheel... I know Mr. Hill is pretty dead-set against them, since "steering wheels are for steering the car", as Mr. Hill says... but after having them on the Monte Carlo SS and the GTO, I don't see how they interfere with the wheel's ability to steer the car...

Solsitce & Z06 wheels look nice, but I a gree with you on functionality of the 4 spoke. I like to put my hand on 6 o'clock too. CTSv is my favorite 3 spoke http://www.cadillac.com/images/model...toInt3_med.jpg

Re: A couple Z06 details I havent seen mentioned elsewhere .

just looked at motortrend today and they have an article with pictures on the 2006 Z06 with interior and exterior pics as well as engine. Also a shot of the alumanim hydroformed frame instead of the regular C6 steel frame otherwise exactly the same only weighs 136 lbs less.
Looks BADA$$. Looks exactly like the pics of the new Z06 that have been floating around here. Fender flares out 1.5 inches to fit the 2 inch wider tires, scoop in the front for better induction HUGE 14.something inch brake rotors with 6 piston calipers, very little spoiler in the back middle. Of course the 500 hp 7.0 Liter. Capable of 200mph, weighs only 31xx lbs. Roof is not removable (saves 40 pounds), carbon fiber front fenders.
I didnt buy the magazine but I think it was in the 70,000 thousand dollar range.

I drove a Corolla, and I was surprised at how the steering wheel felt - it felt much better than my Z28, it's smaller, thicker, and sportier looking. The grip is better too.

Re: A couple Z06 details I havent seen mentioned elsewhere .

It seems that Motor Trend seems to think that the Z06 will be around $75,000. However, Car and Driver seems to think the Z06 will be around $62,000-65,000. $65,000 would be a much better price than 75. Especially considering the fact that in almost every comparison with other sports cars, the Vette wins simply because of the value factor. It certainly doesnt win because of quality of product. So if Chevy puts it at 75k, then it will certainly detract from the value aspect. Im NOT saying 65k is value but you get my drift!

65k would be an absolute hit i think
with all that you're getting more than the c5 z06, it seems fair enough to me

IMHO, they need to not stray from the C5 Z06 price range too much to maintain the level of success the C5 Z06 had (approx 28% of the build! )

Especially since they lowered the base price on the LS2 car compared ot the LS1 base price...

High $50k's would be an understandable price bump... and I would consider myself to be part of the target audience for this car in the next few years...

The C5 Z06 was without a doubt a huge success as you quoted by the build percentage, but maybe it isn't fair to judge the C6 Z06 by the same parameters. The C5 car was a "volume" top-of-the-line performer because it encompassed minimal improvements. This time around Dave Hill even said the goal for the next Z06 was to be more exclusive...and look at what we got...I never expected the rumored all-aluminum frame to become reality (at least not until the Blue Devil was built, if it is)...6 piston calipers? You're talking about real race hardware here. I guess what I'm saying is that being as successful as C5 Z06 probably isn't one of this car's goals. Sales-wise, anyway.

With all that said it would still be a huge disappointment if this thing comes in north of $70,000! What Team Corvette might not understand is that while the enhancements to the car are certainly impressive, the bottom line is that it is still viewed as a Corvette....a legendary machine sure, but still a Chevy Corvette. I'm hoping that this fact didn't escape them.

The Corvettes saving grace in the eyes of the world is its value. If this car completely loses that, then I dont see it being seen as a success. Im not saying that I wouldnt buy the car, cuz if I had that kind of money, I certainly would, but im just saying that if its gonna be built by Chevy, it needs to be a better value than its competitor.

Kinda think of this though . What else are you gonna be able to buy for $70-75K ( if it is even that much ) that will perform as good as or be as exclusive as a 2006 Z06 . The Z51 c6 just barely trailed the vaulted $90K Porshe . Really look at the laundry list of parts that make your eyes bug on the C6 and $75K would still be the relative bargain . IMO anyways . I think this car is gonna knock the entire perfomance world on it a$$

i just started searching for 06 zo6 info on here and from what i see its competition will be the 120k porsches 190k ferrarris 80+k vipers and 150k ford gt

at 75k if it can outperform any of those it is still the most bang for the buck since the loss of the fbody

Re: A couple Z06 details I havent seen mentioned elsewhere .

I think from a price point anyways , chevy hopes the C6 Z51 pkg. car ...which is very close to the C5 Z06 in performance and price , will pick up the people who could afford a C5 Z06 , but cant afford a C6 Z06 . I personally think at $70K chevy would possibly outsell the C5 Z06 even . How many people that bought the C5 version do you think actually coulda paid ALOT more for a car , I think quite a few . Look in a shop like Lingenfelter or MTI , how many big dollar conversions do you think they do a year ? Last time I was lingenfelter they had brand new vettes lined up outside if that gives you any kinda guage .
