Re: Corvette Live Reveal 1/13/13 @ 7pm EST
Looks like the Stingray still does end up being the model with the best efficiency. Obviously no 5.5L though.
The Z51 ratios are pretty much on par through 6th gear with the current C6. 7th takes it one step further.
C6 M6 Ratios:
First: 2.97
Second: 2.07
Third: 1.43
Fourth: 1.00
Fifth: 0.71
Sixth: 0.56
Reverse: 3.28
Final Drive Ratio: 3.42

Maybe it's just me but I don't see much C2 interior influence in C4 or C7 at all. Now the C4 and C7 similarities are obvious.

I was prepared to be let down after all the leaked pics. I must say though, watching the live reveal, this car is absolutely gorgeous. I love everything about it and to me it looks 100% Corvette with 0 retro. The rear end I think works well too. I think they pulled the interior off well, it looks substantial and looks like a nice place to spend alot of time. The materials are spot on, the seats "look" proper. Im a tech head, so I love the 8" screen in the instrument cluster and the Corvette spec My link and the color HUD, as well as all the options for configuration. It does look like they used the 90-93 C4 dash and console for inspiration, I think that was a great design though( less the cheesy gauge cluster)
I love it, superb job by the Corvette team.
I thought Mark Reuss was gonna cry, he acted so genuinely excited and proud.

I was really shocked by the reveal, I didn't expect it to look that good. I really am digging this Vette. With the C6 the base car is pretty much overlooked. The new C7 is the shot in the arm the base car needed and raises the bar for the Z06 and ZR1. I wonder if there is going to be enough room for two ultra performance models?
I love how the hatch now looks like a fastback coupe. I was really skeptical of the rear when I saw renderings. I've never been a fan of the rear ends of the C5 or C6, I always thought they were devoid of any styling. I am so happy to see the rear of the C7 has styling that matches the rest of the car.
The interior looks great, I really like the red trim, so flashy. I am really digging the multi-display instrument panel. Does the interior have any LED ambient lighting?

I think the C7 will grow on me over time, but when the C6 first came out I liked the C5 styling more until the Z06 model showed up. I think the Z06/GS/ZR1 body is one of the most beautiful sports cars ever.
It will be interesting to see what styling they have in store for the Z06/ZR1 version of the C7.
Also sometimes pictures don't do a car enough justice. You have to see one in person sometimes to really see how the styling works (Porsche Panamera comes to mind, ugly in the pictures, but in the flesh it actually looks pretty good).

What is everyone's feelings on the estimated horsepower ratings of LT1. I was surprised that they didn't have official numbers for the reveal. 450hp is their target, but I am hoping for a little more. 450 is less than 20 hp more than the current base car with active exhaust. DI alone should be more than that, I say its going to be at least 470hp.
Of course with the new transmission, lighter weight chassis and the flat torque curve of the LT1 the C7 shouldn't have any problems bringing in better performance numbers over the C6.

Manufacturers seem to do this on purpose when a model first comes out, then after two to three years the black plastic parts get painted to make the vehicle look different. BMW did it with the X3 after a couple years, the 2010-11 mustang had all black plastic lower body pieces & 2012+ have all painted, the avalance started off black plastic (then it was removed), the honda element was black plastic, then paint after a few years... those are just the ones off the top of my head that I know for sure.

Actually. C&D had fairly reliable info.

Did y'all know about the collaboration between Corvette & the folks at Gran Turismo?
Way back in November this was posted: Gran Turismo 5 Exclusive -- Drive the Corvette C7 Test Prototype (Extended Cut) - YouTube
And on the day of the reveal: Gran Turismo 5 Exclusive - 2014 Corvette Stingray Final Prototype - YouTube

and I just saw this about the front plate that many of us are supposed to have.
2014 C7 Corvette - The Front License Plate Bracket - YouTube
It goes to show the level of detail behind every bit of this car.
I even see some hints at the C3 with the plate on.
